Welcome to a new edition of Behind The Scenes, where I share the WIPs, outlines, and thoughts as I drew pages 17 and 18.

Oh boy, we're getting to the good stuff!

PAGE 17
> Lynn then tells him he's the most special boy ever. And that any girl would be lucky to be with him. Lincoln tells her she's not too bad herself. Makes a joke, and then they hold hands.
This part I changed quite a bit, at least in terms of dialogue. The "any girl would be lucky to be with him" line seemed too similar to something she'd already said in page 9:

So I changed the flow of the conversation just a little bit. Lincoln isn't joking or telling her "You're not too bad yourself". Instead, he's carefully walking the tightrope of revealing his feelings without being too obvious. He says he doesn't feel like he's missing out on having a girlfriend because guess who he is spending time with? lol

Also, that compliment he says? "You look wonderful tonight"? That's from Eric Clapton. Go listen to it if you don't know it. Pretty good song. Maybe Lincoln heard it from Luna? Who knows.

It ends with them holding hands, which takes us to the next page.

PAGE 18
> Heartbeat panels. They speak at the same time. Lincoln asks for clarification on whether or not she'd be up to like someone, or if she just doesn't like boys or girls. She tells him she doesn't like any random boy. Just someone really special. "You told me you'd never leave me, right?" "Yeah." "Even if I fucked up? Even if I did or said something stupid and terrible? Would you hate me for it?" "I could never, *ever* hate you, Stinkcoln."

The heartbeat panels meant exactly what it sounds like, that it would be a panel to show both Lincoln and Lynn with a heartbeat behind them to indicate that it's an important moment for them. But I already used that resource on the page where Lincoln sees Lynn in her dress for the first time, so I decided to bring an old friend: the red string of destiny!

You surely remember it from the second issue of the comic, where it played a big role as the leitmotif, appearing in very important moments in their lives when their feelings grew, or when they became aware of them.

And now Lincoln begins to struggle to keep everything to himself. He's now sharing more than he normally would. His conflicting face is a "Should I do this?" moment. And he seems to be moving forward with his intentions, but he needs Lynn's reassurance that she won't hate him.

We're SO CLOSE you guys. just a couple more weeks... We're in the Endgame now.

Thank you all for sharing this journey with me!
