I recommend M John Harrison's A Storm of Wings, the second novel in the Viriconium series, for a weird alien invasion. Eighty years after the northern Barbarian menace has been repelled, Locusts from outer space (inner space?) invade the lands and minds of the inhabitants of the waning city Viriconium.

This was a fantastic episode, probably my favorite one since the unicorn special episode. I really appreciate that you covered a lot of the things I've been thinking about with regards to my upcoming Spelljammer game that it was almost like we were hanging out and chatting.
