This whole episode was a mind f*ck….in the best way lol I was so bamboozled and confused…heck I still am lol and the fact that the entire episode signs were pointing towards Joe being dead yet I still did not believe it until it was in front of my face…WOW it’s like flashpoint 2.0

Wild episode. I was 101% sure the "is Joe dead?" hints they made last ep and earlier in this one was a mislead.... but WOW. I still dont buy it as an etched in stone detail. Just not sure how they will fix it. I cant remember the last episode of The Flash that was this good. Its been a few minutes. This reminded me of an episode of the old school version of The Twilight Zone a little.Legit cant wait to see how it all ends.

Ok, the Date of Death listed was May 23, 2021. That was last season, in the middle of Family Matters, Parts 1 and 2. That was when Psych did some weird mind tricks thing. Maybe all this involves him somehow? It was also when Speed Force Nora was on a rampage, trying to destroy the other forces. Oh, it was also when Joe resigned from CCPD in response to Kramer's overreach at the time.

This can't be real! 😭This is all some evil, sinister ,devious,, step by step plan to break Barry so Despero can kill him..but who&why?🤔 I'm not satisfied that Xoltar did this alone. And Eobard Thawne couldn't be into this! Remember he wants to kill Barry himself. He'd never let anyone else do it. I liked the way Barry used his power mid-air, but learning about Joe and watching Gideon tell Barry goodbye had me sobbing 😭. I kept wondering who' s gonna die. I mean this is too personal, too well thought out breaking Barry down mentally and taking him to the point of no return. His job is gone, Star Labs is gone, Gideon is gone, his Loft is practically destroyed, and Joe's dead...what else will happen to Barry?..how far will this go? 😫😞But as I said as I am this isn't making sense. Who is doing this and why are they doing it. This is too personal. Who would really gain from this madness? Are we and Barry inside his head. Did he already have a mental breakdown and we're seeing the end result? Are we an alternate reality where someone is messing with Barry for kicks? Or is this all a way for them to change it all for the series? No more Joe, get rid of Star Labs and the Gideon he's come to know, Team Flash needs to change again..My brain has been wondering what's the true purpose and endgame for the long , drawn out plan to truly kill Barry mentally and physically. I know part 3 is just going to break us for sure.

NO SPOILERS (My Theory): What if the reverse flash thought, “You know what, because I can’t be faster than you, I’m gonna go back in time a week, do the radiation leak, and go back 6 months ago and kill Joe. But because your a speedster, you’ll notice the timeline isn’t right or changed while to everyone else they’ve already been in it. Similar to when Barry had Thawne in a cage and Barry was losing his memory and speed of the previous timeline and Thawne explained the only way to “fix” it is to have him kill Nora again. Maybe this time Thawne is doing it with the intention of ruining the Flash’s Legacy and have him go mad which leads him to using the negative speed force or being seen as the Reverse, and Thawne tries to stop Barry by playing “hero” while using his face in order to “be” the Flash. Which in his backstory according to the show, he wanted to be the flash until he realize he was destined to be the reverse. Then again, it doesn’t make sense that Barry becomes “mad” and stays that way for 10 years unless Thawne is hellbent on ruining how people view the Flash.

He made a portable Gideon device when the Monitor sort of destroyed it in 6x01. Maybe he'll use that now. It could also serve as the basis when he creates the full Gideon in the future.

Barry probably maintains it himself on a regular basis, like in season 2 when he was rebuilding CC Jitters by himself after the singularity caused its destruction.

I'm not sure it is Thawne masquerading as Barry. Why is the lightning still yellow? Thawne has red lightning from the negative speed force, and Barry has yellow lightning from the regular speed force. Even if Thawne did take Barry's face, wouldn't the lightning be red? I mean in season 1, Thawne took over Well's visage with that futuristic device, and his lightning was still red. Although it didn't change his DNA, because they couldn't match the yellow speedster's DNA to anything (the red one was Barry as an adult), which makes sense since Thawne's DNA wouldn't exist for at least another 160 years then. I think it is more Barry being mindpunked by someone. First, Iris didn't really appear upset all that much by Joe's "death". I mean, she supposedly lost her father, who she has known for about 30 years. Meanwhile, Cecile is the one that is really broken up by it and she's been with Joe for less than 5 years. Second, the date of death listed on Joe's memorial plaque is May 23, 2021. That was right in the middle of when the 2-part Family Matters episode(s) were airing last season. In those, one of the forces, Psych, was doing his mind tricks, and Speed Force Nora was on a rampage trying to destroy all the other forces. Maybe Psych has something to do with it. Third, when Cecile was berating Barry, she said something about a "living nightmare." That was what Cisco and some others were referring to last season when they got zapped by Psych. Fourth, maybe Joe didn't actually make it out of the car last season when Kramer suddenly screamed "Get out, now!" right before it was blown up by the meta they were hunting at the time.

what really irks me is that despero talkin about barry going insane and messing up stuff but not doing a single thing to prevent it besides trying to kill him which isn’t gonna happen unless he can’t prevent it. like use yo brain and work with barry to figure out what’s happening. and if despero is testing barry, that’s dumb bc a lot of this stuff break a lot of people’s minds but barry knows he has to do what’s needed to protect people
