D's Character Q&A (Patreon)
Content
Hey all! The voting for the poll came in, and a whopping 50% of you voted for D! There were also a few questions sent in that will be answered for this Q&A as well - one specific submission only wrote down questions for A so I'll save that for when it's A's turn ✨
Also a general note: this Character Q&A is posted a week earlier than usually scheduled because I'm planning on releasing X's character snippet next weekend and use the last week of April to focus on university coursework. I've got a lot of deadlines lined up for then, lol
Without further ado, let's move on to D's Q&A!
First question! What is your go-to comfort meal?
"That would be şorbe nîsk (lentil soup). It's one of the dishes my uma would make whenever mother and I returned home after a long time of being away. Especially in winter, it always warms me."
What is your favorite childhood memory?
"Going fishing in the marshes. I'm not particularly good at fishing, my parents are both much better at it than I am, but it was a little quiet time to myself. Whenever I was upset at something or I had a lot weighing on me, I'd borrow a boat and go fishing for a few hours. The marshes in Penawar are beautiful, and peaceful. It helped to clear my mind."
Favorite animal?
"Flamingos."
Really?
"No. They do look pretty, though; there's a lot of them in Penawar."
Okay, so what's your actual favorite animal?
"I don't have a favorite. My horse if I had to choose, I suppose. Her name is Zembeq." (Zembeq is a type of white lily.)
Who do you consider to be your best friend?
"Zembeq."
...Aside from your horse.
"Then my mother."
That's sweet, but let's rephrase: who are you closest to, outside of your horse and your relatives?
"Define 'close'?"
The person you can tell anything to, someone you consider an equal, someone you spend a lot of time with...
"By those standards, that would be Xelara/Xelef."
But you hate each other?
"Yes, but I can tell them anything. Such as that they're reckless, arrogant, and have somehow deluded themselves into thinking they're the Spirits' gift to the rest of the world when truthfully they're a menace to society."
And the spending time together part?
"I've been seeing a lot more of them than I strictly wanted to lately, due to the Crown's arrival. Wholly against my will, I assure you."
But you still consider them your equal.
If you had a talent for magic, what kind of magic would you like to do most?
"Inner magic would suit me best: healing magic specifically seems like it would be the most useful, practically speaking. I tried learning it during my younger years in the army, but I never managed to go above healing small scrapes and cuts. Especially in combat situations, healers on the battlefield can be vital to attain success."
Okay, but if you had to pick magic that you liked and not magic that is useful, what would you choose?
"Then... air magic."
Why?
"I saw a magus create a spinning vortex of wind once and set it loose on the battlefield. It wiped out a dozen enemies effortlessly, but it also caused a lot of destruction on our own side. Practically speaking, it's not the most useful... but the power behind it was still impressive."
Last question: who is your favorite historic Crown, and why?
"I don't know about favorite, I don't have any favorites, but the Crown I admire the most is Crown Ardashir. He was put in a difficult situation, and it would've been easy to give into his brother to keep the peace. But he did what he had to do, he was committed to his duty to Arsur."
A pause.
"I hope I can do the same."
