Character Q&A: Tûjo & Heval (Patreon)

Hey everyone!! Tûjo and Heval won the poll by 1 vote, though Kaja & Ezo were a very close runner-up, and there were several interesting questions sent in as well. 

I'll save the questions that were intended for the other characters that won't get a turn this month until they are featured in the Q&A as well, thanks for sending them in ✨

Onto the Q&A!

Can you advise how you chose your profession? 

Heval: "It wasn't really a choice, just something I happened to fall into. I don't have many other talents aside from fighting, so it was either this or joining the army."

Tûjo: "I was pulled into it by Xelara/Xelef. Being a mercenary might sound cutthroat, but the Crescent Blades have accomplished a lot of good in the world." 

Heval: "Pulled into it? You readily followed Xelara/Xelef, from what I recall." 

Tûjo: "...Your memory is flawed." 

Heval: "Right." 

Specifically for Heval: how did you meet X?

Heval: "It was a short while after Tûjo and Xelara/Xelef met, in fact. I was born in Zeratun, and I lived there for most of my life before Xelara/Xelef started the Crescent Blades." 

Tûjo: "We ran into them when they were picking a fight with some kids who were harassing a stray cat. Xelara/Xelef took an immediate liking to them." 

Heval: "The kind of scum that would hurt an innocent animal for fun should not be counted as people." 

Specifically for Tûjo: how did you train your magical skills to be what the are today?

Tûjo: "I'm self-taught, mostly, though I've had some informal instruction from other Crescent Blades. We have a couple of former soldiers from the provincial and imperial armies who were trained in using magic for combat able to teach others the basics." 

Heval: "There are also instructional tomes of magic one can read to gain further knowledge, though they're very hard to come by. I remember Xelara/Xelef gifting you one for your birthday a few years back, didn't they?" 

Tûjo: "Xelara/Xelef is far too generous with coin. But yes, I appreciated it." 

How have the two of you moved through difficult moments?

Heval: "Extreme repression." 

Tûjo: "..." 

Heval: [gestures to Tûjo] "See this perfect example." 

Tûjo: "I am not repressed." 

Heval: "Truthfully, it's because we're part of the Crescent Blades. We're all moving towards the same goal, and support each other when we're going through difficult periods." 

What kind of goal are you working towards, exactly?

Heval: "Making the world a better place, one good deed at a time." 

Tûjo: "Don't let Xelara/Xelef hear you say that, they'll make fun of you." 

Heval: "What? It's their goal we're all following, not mine." 

What is your opinion of the Crown courting X?  

Tûjo: "Bad idea." 

Heval: "Horrible idea. Not because Xelara/Xelef is unworthy--in fact, there's very few people that deserve them, in our opinion--but because..."

[Heval and Tûjo exchange a look]

Tûjo: "It's just better not to go there."  

Are the two of you interested in each other at all? In terms of romance or attraction?

Heval & Tûjo: "No." 

Tûjo: "The relationship between Heval and I, and Xelara/Xelef as well, is strictly platonic." 

Heval: "We're close friends and comrades, but that's it. We see each other more as siblings. Besides which, I tend to court people who are chattier and more open with their feelings. Tûjo also has a very specific preference that I don't fit." 

What kind of preference?

Tûjo: "Don't you dare-" 

Heval: "He always seems drawn toward men who are academics or scholars, sometimes poets and artists too--the sensitive, intelligent sort I suppose you might say. They must also be hairy. Every man he's courted in the past has had a thick beard and a lot of hair all over." 

Tûjo: "...Sleep with one eye open tonight, Heval." 

What would you say if X wanted the Crescent Blades to stay in Marabad?

Heval: "I would convince them not to." 

Tûjo: "It would be rather uncharacteristic. I can't imagine Xelara/Xelef staying in one place for very long." 

Any advice you have for the new Crown?

Heval & Tûjo: "Bully the nobility."
