Also its worth mentioning that the titan experiments u saw hange performing were shortened from the source material. They don't ever explain what they did in the anime. Basically they were testing his titan dexterity/seeing how many times he could transform. The weak titan eren partially fused with was his 3rd transformation in a row. (Back to back to back). Obviously the third transformation is a lot weaker.

I was wondering, considering season 3 was released in 2 parts, will you be rating them separately as part 1 and part 2, or together as just ‘season 3’?

Something that you guys are seeing that's making the characters look a little older/different. They revised the character designs for the season. It was said at the time it was to pull the aesthetic closer to the manga's style, so it does make them appear a little older (most noticeable on Eren and Levi - Levi's in his 30s, but his earlier season design made him look much younger). However, very little time has passed from the end of S2 and S3. Hope that helps!

the start of s3 has gotta take place around couple or weeks or a little bit more after s2 cause at the start of this episode, mikasa got told to not do much work since her ribs are still broken after the titan grabbing her in s2 ep 11

Just some info guys, the man that appears in the first season playing chess was just a noble, not the King, this is the first time that the King appears. Kenny does not appear in the OVA. Only a short time has passed since the end of the second season, remember that Armin makes the comment to Mikasa that he has to rest because a titan crushed his ribs. And I think the idea of writing down your theories is so cool! the truth is that this is a story where one can go crazy creating theories!

KENNNNYYYYY (omega! lol). Re the new opening: Oak was fairly spot on. The previous openings were all patriotic and militaristic based songs, ramping up humanity's fight against the titans. We open this season with the government arresting the scouts, and our main characters losing the last of their innocence by having to fight and potentially kill other humans. The opening really reflects that.

The manga shows more of the time Hange spent trying to get Eren to manifest armor. Eren had transformed into a titan many times and done numerous things before we got to that end result.

I’ve noticed over several reactions that you guys still seem confused about the layout of the walls and towns. Confusing Wall Maria with Wall Rose, mixing up town locations, etc. It will greatly help you to study a map of the walls and towns locations and names. Because when they are talking about plugging the hole in Shinganshina, that’s Erin’s home town from the beginning of the show. Where his mother died and the basement is. All the territory between that wall, Maria, and wall Rose was lost to Titans invading. All the times you saw the scouts leaving the walls, they were still technically behind the walls, and trying to reach wall Maria to close the hole.

I think they may need a map to understand it better, I don’t know if in the internet there’s a map where you can see the walls with their names and the main locations that we already know like Shinganshina, Trost and the capital. That would be cool :)

For the intro, it’s not my favorite of them, but I will admit that it makes me choked up whenever I watch it through. Seeing all of them young compared to their older selves and all they’ve been through… it pulls on the heart strings, lol. It really makes me think of the contrast of them in episode one versus now. Especially when young Eren bumps into his older, Scout self (I believe him, Mikasa, and Armin are 16 now). When I first watched season 3 and saw that, my heart literally hurt from remembering everything that they’ve been put through. And the way older Eren watches their younger selves run… I don’t know, the intro just brings up… something. Nostalgia? Reminiscing? I can’t find the right word for it, lol

ALSO, i hope you guys read this, but please skip the second opening of season 3! It is very spoily for whats to happen... I would recommend watching the opening the last few episodes 🙏🏽💕

Yes yes, we're all hyped about season 3, BUT did I just hear Mason Quinn say Spike Spiegel?! Did I miss him saying he's watched Cowboy Bebop in the past or am I just losing it?! Both are equally possible when it comes to my brain... I probably just forgot. 🤦‍♀️ Anyway, my squirrel moment is over. I remember enjoying season 3 a lot so I'm looking forward to watching it again. I thought the writing was really good when I first watched the series, but it wasn't until watching it again that I learned to appreciate the storytelling even more.

The experiments Hange is doing with Eren is better explained in the manga, the anime unfortunately cuts or change some bits of information and scenes from the source material ( the manga ). One of my biggest issues I have with S1-3 of the anime is the amount of changes/cuts from the original storyline they did. Anyways the reason why Erens Titan transformation was like that in this episode is because he has been continuously trying to change it into a Titan multiple times during this experiment. He didn’t do it just once like they showed in the episode, he’s been working on it for hours & has been doing other test that Hange was giving him to do as well but they didn’t add these scenes in the anime ( Also don’t worry this isn’t a spoiler considering this information from the manga was supposed to be in this episode but they didn’t add it, it was basically cut like I said before and won’t be in the anime at all )

Okay Oak, thank you for appreciating this opening song. It’s my favorite but it wasn’t until I heard the full version of the song. The intro cuts out the best parts, I hope you listen to the full version at some point because it does build to an emotional crescendo. Also! That guy way back in season one wasn’t a king, he was just a lord of some kind. Just FYI. 😊

Yes, I think you guys confused the person that Pyxis was playing chess with for the King. I think the term they used was a "noble"; but regional lord works just as well. This season is really the first time that we get any meaningful mention of the King

The Oak got it right for the music! Like 80s vibe. The composer is Yoshiki and he’s the forefather of Japanese rock in the 80s with his band X-Japan. The singer is Hyde from rock band L’arc-en-ciel. These guys are legends!! Also it’s slow because it’s more on the backstory of the characters’ childhoods.
