So, yeah Garam was kicked out of the group because of a bullying scandal and Sakura and Kazuha are japanese, so when you pointed out the difference in tone and confidence between Chaewon and Kazuha, I think it has to do with Kazuha not being really fluent in Korean. Even though both, Sakura and Kazuha are japanese, Sakura is more comfortable with the korean language, I think. That video was probably filmed like a month into their debut, so the girls are kinda awkward and shy. Also, don't know if you already knew this but Sakura and Chaewon has already debuted before in another group (izone) in 2018, I think but the group disbanded last year.

As you will probably notice going forward, Garam has unfortunately left the group. Before Le Sserafim’s debut Garam was accused of bullying when she was 12. It has now been proven false. To put it shortly, what happened was that Garam and the accuser used to be friends until they had a falling out, later on the accuser had taken pictures of Garam’s friend undressing and spread them online. After this, Garam and her friends had confronted her and used harsh words and cursed at her, this was reported which led to Garam and the accuser getting punished, with Garam getting a level 5 punishment for the incident (special education) and the accuser getting a level 8 punishment (school transfer) for the spreading of Garam’s friend’s naked pictures, which she evaded by transferring willingly before the punishment could be executed. We don’t know if Garam left on her own, if hybe/source music let her go or if her parents pulled her out (she was 16). I would not be surprised if her parents pulled her out, the online bullying and sexual harrassment Garam faced was very severe and if I was a parent I would also not let my child stay, but as I said, we don’t know. All in all it's just very sad and unfortunate. What makes it even worse is that the evidence was already available way before she left and hybe had already addressed the issue and told the whole truth, but people on the internet found harassing a 16 year old and destroying her career and dreams to be more entertaining I guess. It wasn't until she had already left the group that people were finally willing to admit that she was innocent. I think a lot of people online get power trips from destroying celebrities careers and lives, as many of the people who have started false rumors have admitted, this isn't the first time it has happened to an innocent person and it won't be the last.

I completely forgot Garam was still part of LE SSERAFIM then. That was weird how she didn't show up until 5 questions in.. The group faced a lot of hardships even before debuting in May 2022 because of Garam's bullying and underage drinking accusations. Lots of people on the internet were telling Hybe/Source Music to cut her from the team. Hybe denied it all and let her debut. Just two weeks into their debut the negativity and hate became so severe, the company decided to put Garam into hiatus while the rest of the group continued their promotions and the company would investigate the allegations. In July an official statement came out from the company which said Garam was officially cut from the team. Not too long ago it was confirmed Garam is innocent, which is so sad. The internet ruined an innocent girl's dream and years of hard work.

This video was our first time seeing and hearing Le Sserafim talk, it was posted before their debut :) That is probably why they all seem so timid + the setting. Kazuha is actually Japanese and has yet to perfect her Korean, but she has improved a lot since this video was filmed. Sakura, Chaewon and Yunjin actually knew each other before Le Sserafim, all of them having been on a kpop survival show, with Chaewon and Sakura making it to the group created by said show (iz*one). Sakura is actually a veteran already, she was a huge idol in Japan even before iz*one, she became an idol in Japan in 2011 and is soon entering her 12th year as an idol. The members actually said they were a bit worried about variety shows since they were a bit quiet in the beginning, but now they are very chaotic and loud, I guess they just needed to get comfortable with the cameras. For content that shows more of their personalities I really recommend Lenniverse (specifically episodes 4 & 5), or for a deeper look into the creation of Le Sserafim their 4 episode short documentary on YouTube "The World Is My Oyster" which shows their days leading up to debut!

Hey Max, I really recommend checking out Yunjin‘s interview/performance on a show called Leemujin Service where k-pop artists talk to a guy called Mujin. It‘s a mix of interview and performance and really enjoyable. (Han also did that if you‘re interested;)) Link: https://youtu.be/FCAb1wTXKko

Yeah those interviews/ performances are indeed always very interesting and you get to really hear the guests sing and show off their singing abilities! (Also, apart from Han, Seungmin was also on the show and I would definitely recommend also checking his episode out!)

It would be better if you reacted to their more recent content after the Fearless era, because this era was riddled with anxiety--ex-member Garam got embroiled in a highly publicized bullying scandal which meant her contract termination. So there's just five members, and you can totally see how much easier and more confident they've become once the controversy was behind them. Maknae Eunchae has become incredibly loud and vibrant, Kazuha has become entirely outspoken, and Yunjin even louder than everyone.

Chaewon and Sakura used to be together in another group called iz*one before lesserafin. debuting in iz*one was the prize of wining a reality competition type of show that would last for 2 years. The group was madly successful and after it disbanded Hybe signed both of them. Even before that, Sakura was one of the most popular members of Japanese girl group HkT48 ( sister group from AKB48) she joined when she was 12-13, so she really is a veteran in the game….

Others have already mentioned Sakura and Kazuha being Japanese, with Sakura being an industry veteran in two countries, but I think another interesting tidbit to help explain their communication styles is that while the other girls are Korean, Yunjin is Korean-American specifically. You might have noticed from the way she said "Music is my life." They have such a variety of cultures, ages, and experience levels. I really enjoy this group.
