Jack! What were you gonna say about Cher before the doorbell interrupted!?!

Jack loved you defending Kylie Minogue, as an Australian I would love a Kylie episode in this vein

The Pine Drive-In Podcast

I loved every second of these 6 hours. I was 13 when Like a Virgin dropped and detonated my little brain. Experiencing Peak Madonna as a teen in the 80s is hard to describe to those who weren't there or weren't paying attention; she was absolutely colossal and transformative, and elemental in my appreciation of art, culture, life, fucking everything. I gradually tuned out as her albums thinned and her movie duds piled up. However, with your Christmas Reverie, you guys have made me remember the insane inspiring jolt of her peak years. Incredible.

Samantha

Perhaps the greatest episode of one of the greatest podcasts in the medium. The fact that my name is in this like twice makes me feel so important. When tpn’s pumping it CAN give you new life

Wonderful episode as usual, and congrats on 200! FYI the earliest scented record that I'm aware of is Laura Nyro's Eli and the Thirteenth Confession (1968), the lyric sheet of which was printed with lilac-scented ink. It's also one of the best albums ever made, the wildest pop album of the 60s to my ears

I will listen to you, again, Jack and am planning to enter 2023 spending more time reading long books and stop bothering with the internet. Watching people being "based" online, ugh, I have no idea what they're even talking about anymore. All the best for the new year x

This was amazing. My Italian-American boomer mother adored Madonna from the jump—I think there was a cultural alignment and she saw her as reinventing and resurrecting the pop glories of the 60s. She remembers her most vividly as a beautiful girl sleeping on park benches in Rego Park, Queens prior to fame.

I listened to all six hours of this while entering a year's worth of tax receipts. Heaven! Your podcast is my favorite discovery of 2022. The three Sissys! And the Ladies of the Club! Creation! Sins! Patti Smith! Bangerz! Rice! I spent 2022 watching all 9 seasons of Dynasty. I am waiting for Knott's Landing to stream somewhere, sometime. Love the Mary Tyler Moore intro. Love episodes from the tub. I'm a founding member of a Classic Trashy Book Club. Anytime you want to talk Krantz, Collins, Sheldon, Susann - I am available. Thank you, thank you!

Heather

Playing Madonna all day in the boutique I work at bc of this ep. A middle aged midwestern tourist that came in w her family was thrilled w the music and sang every word of Vogue. I love the music episodes. I always feel compelled to listen to the full discography of whoever you’re talking about. HNY 🤍

i have FINALLY finished this episode after listening over the course of three days and it’s all i have been thinking about, it’s consumed me. this episode is magnificent. my mom wasn’t really into Madonna so i had to discover her on my own, so MY Madonna is Ray of Light, new age, esoteric Judaism, Frozen, Nothing Really Matters Madonna and i, like Jack said, was scared and horrified yet intrigued and obsessed with the Frozen video when i first saw it. i wanted a red Kabbalah bracelet so badly that i found a piece of red string and wore it on my wrist for a while. The Ray of Light album has been burned into my brain for 25 years. every day i find myself singing Ray of Light or Frozen. you and Zach just created the definitive podcast covering the entirety of her career. nothing else could possibly top this. thank you so much. i love you boys ❤️

I learned how to beatmatch by playing 2 copies of Express Yourself over and over and over and over again

Listened to this ep on the plane ride back from visiting my Italian-American mom from north Jersey who made me watch Desperately Seeking Susan when I was 10. 6 hours of pure joy — thank you boys!!

justin

This ep reminded me of when pag said that Madonna has liberated women in japan

ivan

I can remember exactly what i was doing during every minute of listening to Valley of the nest of spiders ep. So impactful

Feenabobina
