Is a sacred oath taken by paladins who seek to harness the power of death and undeath in order to serve a greater purpose. Those who take this oath believe that death is not an end, but rather a transformation to a new form of existence, one that holds untold power and potential. They seek to embrace death, not as a final fate, but as a means to an end, using it to further their own goals and those of their allies.
The origins of the Oath of Liches can be traced back to a powerful and ambitious necromancer, known only as "The First Lich", who sought to use the power of undeath to conquer and rule over the land. He was not content to simply raise the dead, but sought to transcend death itself, becoming the first of the powerful and feared liches. This necromancer was able to convince a group of powerful and ambitious paladins to join him in his quest, promising them great power and a chance to serve a greater purpose.
The paladins who took the Oath of Liches believe that death is not an end, but rather a transformation to a new form of existence, one that holds untold power and potential. They seek to embrace death, not as a final fate, but as a means to an end, using it to further their own goals and those of their allies.
Over time, the number of liches has grown, each one more powerful than the last. They are feared and respected by many, but also reviled by those who see them as nothing more than abominations. Despite this, the liches remain steadfast in their oaths, using their power to protect the land from those who would do it harm, and to serve their own mysterious and inscrutable ends.
The tenets of the Oath of Liches reflect this focus on death and undeath. They call for the acceptance of death, submission to pain and guilt, the seeking of power through death, and the pursuit of a greater purpose. Those who take this oath believe that by embracing death, they can transcend it, becoming something greater and more powerful than they ever could have been in life.
