That’s exactly what happened with me when I first discovered BTS it was on carpool karaoke. I had never heard of them before this, but for some reason Jimin is the one who stood out to me the most. I had no idea how his vocal’s was it was just something about him. And since that day he has remained my ultimate bias of BTS and of KPOP in general. I really love and appreciate the entire group but Jimin is just someone special to me and it’s hard to explain exactly what it is. So I understand exactly what Pete is saying. Love your reactions and Thank you guys so much💜

You think Jungkook would just end with the voice?? Girl, Jungkook can rap, dance, produce, songwrite and film etc. his voice is literally the most versatile in types of genres in the group, he can sing really well in both Korean and English. You can't tell him how to feel, but you sure as hell can correct him instead of letting him low-key undervalue and disrespect the other members. And btw opinions can be wrong, because literally what he said wasn't true. There is no "Justin Timberlake" of the group and THAT'S a fact. If you want people on the panel to have their own opinons that's 100% okay, but you gotta stop allowing them to say wrong stuff and just being okay with it. In regards to James Corden, it’s just that the comparing ARMY to 15yrs is the issue. When people think of boy bands they think of kids and that’s not the case. It’s a stereotype that sticks that ARMY try to correct. There is a wide range of ages and genders for people who are ARMY. From kids to older people. People were mad at him because he knows that and had interacted with ARMY. While cancelling him and saying you hate him is over the top , but as a 31 yr old I do agree that the 15yr old girl joke is not necessary. Especially when you know the demographics of a fandom you interacted with. He could of kept it as they have an ARMY. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Love the discussion. I am JK biased but I can see why ppl love Jimin. However BTS works well because each of them contributes something into their music and their performance. They’d be a very different artist if they’re not together. Having said that, do not sleep on Jhope tho! That guy raps, sings, produces, dances hella good, and has the most swag and style out of anyone.

Don't know if you saw my comment from another video but I'm gonna post it here too: Y'all are doing amazing. Honestly jumping into the Kpop world is a big thing and y'all have taken on a lot. I applaud y'all for how you're taking it all in and how willing you are to learn from us. Not many reactors are the same and we have a lot of love and support for reactors like you. All members have pulled massive numbers on solo projects. Recently, JK just did a Harry Styles cover and sales increased for that song. V did an OST that was 1 in many countries. Jimin's Promise has massive numbers on SoundCloud. Jin is about to drop an OST but his solos have done well. JK has the biggest all around impact. Anything he touches sells out globally. From laundry detergent to tea.

I think any member from BTS would be successful. I love all OT7. Jimin is my ult bias, but it's definitely not because of his looks. I have been ARMY since 2013, and have watched the boys grow up. Jimin has grown over the years and has learned to become his true self. So personality wise, he drew me in. His voice and dancing is an added bonus. He's musicality is on point. I am a massive MJ and Prince fan and seen both in concert, more than once. They give off an aura that is unmatched. And Jimin has that type of aura.

Yeah, Some ARMYs/Fans didn't appreciate James Corden referring to ARMYs as 15 year old girls, which is understandable. However, most of us are not on the cancel bandwagon, if BTS chooses to never go on James's show again, fine, great. However BTS prior to this joke that didn't land- had nothing but nice things to say about James. They said they felt welcomed, relaxed and were comfortable whenever they went on his show. Some fans are just a bit sensitive, some of them I think just feel guilty for not being around when Bangtan started out and all the hate they got back then(As someone who was around then it was not fun, and I'm honestly glad millions of ARMYs didn't have to see even what I saw and went through because K-Diamonds had it rougher than I-Lovelies in some ways), and the hate we ARMYs got back then. These fans might feel like because they were not aware, they need to be extra aware now and be protective and on guard. At least that's how I feel about it. It's fine to think one or so members are the 'Justin' of the group. I fell like it's an American thing, American boy bands always break up for one reason or another and at least one member always breaks off and becomes successful. Not every boyband has done that but it's what most Americans perceive to be the 'norm' for groups. Even girl groups, the one 'it girl' is referred to as they Beyonce'. It's just a common western/American thing I feel. Also, it was just an opinion and everyone has a right to their opinion. I agree that someone from the Maknae line could make it big over here... That being said, I also believe what Warren G said about Namjoon/RM. He said if RM spent 1-2 years in the US, he'd make it big here as a rapper no doubt. Also, Tae is and has been taking English classes, so is Hobi/J-Hope, Suga went to an academy for English classes but he claims he only really knows how to write some English and read most English. he gets nervous speaking it so he doesn't speak it that often and when he does he's soft spoken about it most of the time. I'm sure you'll get around to watching compilations of them speaking English, mostly English interviews. I've left another long ass comment- Sorry, I have a habit of doing that sometimes. But I'll shut up now lol, Thanks for the reaction, you guys are great and it's nice to hear all the different opinions, without there being a malicious undertone. To touch on what Pete said the good thing about artists owing it to themselves. Kpop especially HYBE allows their artists to be as creative as they feel the need to be, solo or in the group. So they aren't boxed in because they working on an album as a group. They are backed 100% by the company when it comes to their solo work. People approach the boys on an individual level as producers and singers/rappers and they don't have to go out and find the studios or even fund the projects by themselves. The singers having less full projects (albums) is solely on a personal level. I understand Pete in someone having the 'it factor' but every single one of these boys bring something different. This exact Karaoke Carpool was my first ever video I saw of these boys and I was immediately drawn to Jimin, him, Rm and Jhope were the first ones I could pick out. So I was like that at first where I would just watch Jimin content and didn't think the others had much to offer but about 3 weeks into my ARMY journey I found their other content like solos, Run and Bon Voyage and I immediately became OT7, seeing how much they mean to each other and what they bring on an individual level, they changed my mind for me. Jimin is my bias but I agree with Lo because in terms of international reach and style of music, in a hypothetical world, I see Jhope (although he already the richest in the group) and JK being more successful. I agree with Jerrick too, I don't think they'll ever break up. Can y'all watch Attack on Bangtan dance practice with a larger panel💜 Lo admitting to cheating, 4k nigga.😭😭 also I don't think y'all should put this on YouTube or if you do you'll have to HEAVILY edit cause CBS don't play, some people be in YouTube jail for 2 weeks.😭😭

Okay now, Lo is my guy. I looove how he goes all in swingin for Bangtan😂😂 He's definitely falling deep into the rabbit hole and I enjoy watching it happen because we've all been there. We didn't all start off falling immediately. I kinda resisted and had the "they're aight" attitude, but then you can't deny good music, then come the personalities and you're sucked in. When it comes to bias some people don't have a set one, others knew who their bias was immediately, and others, like me, started thinking they knew who their bias is then it completely changed with time. At first it was Tae for 2 months or so, but as time went by and got to "know them", I became triple biased lol, NamGiKook...Yoongi is ult. Ngl, I was kinda annoyed with the guy on the right, you know how there's people that think they know it all but they kinda don't 😅😅 he has a western centric way of viewing things, it's so hard for people to not impose the dynamic we know from the US on them. Everyone always has to throw in the "whose the JT of the group"....it's way off when it comes to BTS.........buuuuuuuut, I had to remind myself that he's new. Need to cut him some slack. We grew up with a different idea when it comes to boy groups so it's hard to imagine anything different. The idea that they're all loved and equally appreciated as individuals, that they all get along and are so close and have said themselves repeatedly they want to stick together, and that they release solo work when they want without affecting the group...... it's a foreign concept to those that are new. Even if he's seen a few videos, that's not enough to know them yet. Right now, he's going based off his impression so far, which is valid. He's entitled to his opinion. One way or another we've all had our opinions shift with time. Right now it's all superficial, he may or may not dive in deeper, who knows....but if he does, I'd be curious to get his opinion 6 months or a yr down the road. It's always Jerrick at the scene of the crime LMAO. Pete definitely hasn’t seen enough of them to appreciate them all yet. It's okay to have a bias line but all members want you to love and appreciate them all. Jimin is called ‘it- boy jimin’ because he has a very alluring aura and is an amazing performer. Also, don’t sleep on Jhope lol, him and Jk are known as the all arounders, but each member has a uniqueness to them and stands out in their own way.

Interesting conversations for sure and I actually enjoyed it cuz no one is having these kinds of conversations. Each members has what it takes to go solo the rap line has kind of done that with their mixtapes with no promotion and it still did well. Jimin is my ultimate bias cuz he has an amazing stage presence that man commands the stage like no other and I do see him being a successful solo artist in Korea like Taemin. Korea loves high notes and Jimin’s voice is perfect for that and he dances really well. The person who I think will be really successful even outside of Korea is JK he has a very versatile voice in the whole group and if he was in a different group he would probably be the main dancer and you guys haven’t really seen him recently but he is becoming more confident with himself and it’s really apparent in their recent concert.

All BTS members can go solo and draw huge numbers but the ones having the most impact are definitely Jimin, Taehyung (V) and Jungkook. They are the most popular ones after all. All their solo songs have broken records and or done somewhat impressive and I know from Jungkook that his solo song is about to be the most streamed song by a Korean male surpassing gangnam style so if we are going by that then well. That’s what it is streams wise. In general Jimin and Jungkook’s songs do very well streams wise they draw the huge numbers. If I were to pick a member that would be famous in Korea but also outside Korea, internationally that would be Jungkook and I think the majority would think so too. He has a very versatile voice and looking at his songs but also his recent cover and the amount of buzz there is around him. I think that weighs it. But aside from that BTS is one of those groups where the seven is really expressed and that’s what I love. There is no clear stand out cause each member offers something special and that’s what BTS is about. It’s why the number of solo stans is also low compared to many other groups with the maknae line (Jimin Jungkook and V) having the most solo stans but even that in comparison to other groups is quite low. So I’m thankful BTS where each boy, each of the seven has something special to offer

IMO talent and looks only goes so far. Personality is key. And people underestimate Jin, Jhope, RM and yes jimin in terms of why they are loved. People love them for their personalities and that would lead to more longevity. People get tired of talented people quick if they bring nothing else to the table and looks don’t last forever. Either way certain members aren’t interested in going beyond the group. I think JK, Jhope and suga do and so would have ambition and drive to be successful.

Also I want to clarify I’m an OT7 Jimin biased but I don’t like them cuz of only their looks. When I first got into them I actually wasn’t taken by their looks and just really enjoyed their music and performances as time went by that’s when I started finding myself appreciating their looks but this was months after getting into them. Jimin is my bias cuz of his duality cute offstage and a beast on stage and him being attractive is the cherry on top 👍🏽

Their personality is what helps me get through my days most of the time. Yes their music and messages have always helped me but seeing the way they are with each other, as well has being equally entertaining has gotten me through my worst days. They are special and one of a kind

Though some groups/bands successfully adjust to juggling family life with touring etc so hopefully they would too!

What you said is very true. Maknae line definitely has a lot of solo stans I have been attacked multiple times but it definitely shows that if any of the maknae line goes solo they would be successful. The rap line has already proved that they can do well on their own since they have released their own mixtapes already and Jin will be an actor who would be singing the ost for his own drama (this is just me wishing he can have his own kdrama 😩)

I think they all could be popular in the west for something different, like JK he has a pop voice fit for the west but I think that's where it would end, just his voice, like JT or Shawn Mendes type beat. Like I could see him singing while strumming a guitar if he was solo. RM I think would be big because 1) he can speak different languages and can learn others fast 2) western artists have already said he would like Wale 3) Rap is more appreciated than singing in the western market. Suga I could see as a big producer who actually can rap unlike some producers who get their names on songs...cough. Jimin like yall said has the IT factor and could really do anything he wanted, sing, dance, marital arts, soccer. I just think the hate he receives would just be to a greater extent especially based on how reserved and conservative the west can be. Jin I think would be a good actor and make like sad ass albums that would have you crying. I could see Tae in some films but Tae is an old soul so I can see him making some jazz mostly or just something soulful. Jhope is the one i get conflicted with because he would be popular for dancing but it is also not as appreciated as it should be, I could see him being a good choreographer though for other big artists. His rapping would get big too because of how unique it is, his tone of voice is very different from a lot of common rappers

I could feel that he has something different, which is why I can't blame Jerrick and Pete lol. We should keep in mind that the korean culture is more about collective than individuals, as opposed to America, so they have a complete different mindset when being together. They can shine on their own through their solo stuff while still being part of the group, so it's a win-win situation for BTS. The more you'll see stuff from each one of them, the more you'll see their uniqueness. Great discussion and always agree with Lo!

Also, imo I feel like Corden doesn't deserve this. I'm tired of this teen-girl sterotype too but cancelling him is actually building even more the stereotype of the fandom being toxic, which can pull people away from BTS. There were way other american interviews and talk shows where they had disrespectful and ignorant questions, but you can see that James Corden always tried to do a good job with them. I'm always thankful to him for bringing this side of BTS to the West through this Carpool Karaoke and other interviews, I wouldn't have fallen in love with them if not there. You guys should react to the 'Flinch' video w/ BTS and James Corden :)

I agree with you Irina! I am an Army but sometimes feel that there are things done out of immaturity within our fandom that could directly impact BTS in a negative way. It’s ok to be passionate but we should always make sure that our passion is directed in positive and respectful manner. I’m embarrassed for our boys when the toxic side of the fandom is shown.

Always love the conversations afterwards. I think it's natural to want to pinpoint the best when seeing a group (especially when being introduced to them) however I do feel like in Kpop in general, they have put a lot of content out from groups where each member shines in different areas. So we get to see their abilities to sing through their music, their abilities to dance and perform, their rapping skills, their production, writing, and even how they are on variety shows; which is included as a talent for me. So I get why Lo has his viewpoint and Nick too, but I also think it's natural for Pete to want to ask those kinds of questions. Respect though, for having the hard conversations that not everyone else is having :)

Agree with you! In the end the boys are the ones who know how to handle this and I'm afraid it can sometimes impact them too, like people could take it the wrong way and wouldn't want to deal with BTS bc of that 'toxic' fandom. Army made so many great things for BTS but it can sometimes lead to misunderstandings.

I would say that what James Corden said wasn't so much unkind as it was a bit hypocritical as someone who claims to be ARMY and a huge BTS fan. He made a joke at ARMYs expense and perpetuated the "screaming young girls" stereotype that is unkind both to young girls and to the majority of fans who don't match that description at all. That was what a lot of people didn't appreciate. It made him look like his past professions of love and respect for BTS and ARMY were simply clout chasing.

A few thoughts... - James Corden probably didn't deserve to be canceled, but it's also okay to question him when he makes a decision to go for the cheap joke at the expense of a fandom AND a band (because they are a symbiotic thing) that he has previously claimed to love. Jimmy Fallon hasn't done that...thereby proving that you can do better than James did. - Pete has the opinion he does because he's looking at it from his own, Western point of view. BTS isn't western and never will be. That, and the history of abuse and hardship BTS members have endured as a group/family, is what has (at least so far) kept them together. Pete hasn't heard them say over and over again how they spend 360 days per year together, how they feel like something is missing when even one of them isn't there, and how "we are 7" is so important to them. In fact, they just reiterated that with their choice for the PTD virtual concert to do ALL songs with ALL 7 members - no solos or unit songs. Also, they all do have the complete freedom to do their own stuff if they want, with no negative impact on their relationship with or participation as BTS. As others have mentioned, the three rappers have done mixtapes, and all four vocalists have done singles. At least two of the vocalists are working on mixtapes of their own (JK and V), and all three rappers are always working on more music. - If they end up going into the military separately over the course of years, we could see some members stepping up their production of solo work. If they go together or not at all, though, I think their solo work will be about the same level simply because they are very busy as a group. For instance, we knew they were working on an album, but today's In the Soop 2 episode made it clear that they are actively, actively working on an album...meaning we *saw* them doing it (JK working in the RV with SUGA and RM/SUGA discussing beats and songwriting), rather than just an offhand comment by a member or our own assumptions leading us to the conclusion that they were.

Hi guys. I finally joined your Patreon. I enjoy your conversations. The one thing that I have learned about the Korean culture is that it is group-centered more so than an individualistic society which is what western culture is. BTS has mentioned before that they would not be complete as a group without all seven of them. They are really a family and all equally talented. I feel the more Pete goes down the BTS rabbit hole he will see them all stand out in some way. Also, Jungkook does a lot of covers that are on Soundcloud and you can find lyric videos on YouTube. I love how deep Lo is in this Kpop rabbit hole because we always have the same viewpoint and now he understands the nuances as well!! For the whole solo thing, it's like he took the words out of my mouth. The most successful would definitely be one of the maknaes. Imo, Jk would be the most successful member solo. He has a great pop voice and he could also go the pop/RnB route. V has a beautiful voice. My fave voice in the group but I know he would not be the most popular solo member just on the basis of his musical preferences. He would do well in that Jazz/RnB niche but not mainstream success. Jimin is a mystery to me. He and Jin are the 2 members that I'm not sure what a solo music career would look like. My opinion is based on their voices only cause the maknaes can all command a stage solo.

I always said that BTS are as the rainbow with 7 distinct colors each with it own strong artistic identity.. RM, Suga and JHope are already prooved they are powerful as solo, they had really great critic reviews about their mixtapes.. Currently we are waiting for Tae and JK's mixtapes and I think they gonna be successful. As you said, tae and also JK was both on top of the most handsome men in the world. Tae with just one song beat Adele's record for the most #1 on worldwide iTunes. And do you know that Jungkook and Barack Obama are the only two people in the world to have multiple tweets with over 2 million likes on Twitter. He rarely appears on social media, but he sets SNS on fire whenever he does and breaks several records. Jungkook is the only singer in the world who has 3 entries in the list of 15 most-liked tweets of all time. Just in 2021, he joined Joe Biden and Barack Obama to be the only people in the world who have a tweet that was posted in 2021 to be in the top 30 world most-liked tweets of all time on the platform. So yeah.. Each member of BTS is powerful as solo but as RM said once "But it's like the 7 of us are on a boat, looking at different directions, but going the same way. That's how I describe BTS."

Pete: I think the part you are missing is that Jimin's passion is *dance* watch him dance,. He can sing like an angel and I love it, but his magic IMHO, is his dancing. J-hope and he are the kings of the dance line, JK is the powerhouse of the dance line, but his heart is in singing. I'd love you guys to see some Vlives of JK doing mini-concerts. Jimin doesn't write songs that much. He can but that's not his strength nor, I suspect, his passion.

KPOP groups often have members go solo with full promotion. MOST of them do, actually. BTS doesn't do that, by choice. All 7 could go solo and dominate ANY year. But to them, the group is everything. Their commitment to each other is part of why they stand out.

Individually, Jimin has a voice and charisma like Michael Jackson. MJs voice was not as technically perfect as some of his contemporaries...but it's not the technical perfection that made him the biggest star in the world during his day...it was that something extra that made people look AT him and FOR him whenever he was in a room. love it or hate it...that is Jimin. V has a beautiful voice...he reminds me of Maxwell actually. A gorgeous, gorgeous voice from a beautiful man...with a loyal and devoted following. But not quite Pop enough to be as big as MJ. Jin has a voice that is perfect for a specific type of music...one that is VERY popular but not in western markets. JK is simply god tier in his abilities to be and do everything. He probably ha the broadest appeal. And the rap line members are all exceptional but they would have different audiences. So, in conclusion, they all have the potential to dominate (IF they were the type of group who would release solo music with full label support, they're not...so this is all hypothetical). Also, everyone on the panel is absolutely correct in their assessments...because opinions are just that...opinions. So, no shade. They were interesting in hear.

I feel like I've heard way more experts/producers/singers etc. Or people who just worked with BTS in general, (and even reactors) say that they feel like the one who gives off the most MJ vibes is Jungkook. For many reasons, especially ever since he performed at the WC, the day that he performed at the WC one of the most trending topics on Twitter was #MICHAELJACKSON and you want to know why he MJ was trending that day? Because literally everyone, including people who don't even know who BTS is, or people who don't even like them, were saying watching Jk's WC performance was like watching the spirit of MJ take over him. Every single member is amazing, but in terms of members who give off MJ vibes I feel like that title belongs to Jk. It's already been said a thousand times. I even saw videos of people who didn't know who BTS/Jungkook were and people actually thought it was MJ performing on the stage lmao. Jimin being Korea's "IT" boy wouldn't really matter in a INTERNATIONAL scale. Because while Jimin might be Korea's IT boy, Jungkook is the Global/International IT boy. which plays a bigger factor, out of all the members, statistics show that Jungkook has the most impact internationally and on a global level. He's also the most popular member in America, even TV Shows/Movies & K-drama's and even talk show hosts, always mention his name. It definitely has to due to the fact that he's really pretty, and you can't deny that. I'm not trying to take away from his talent, but the reason why people tend to pay attention to him the most is because of his looks. Whenever I watch people react to BTS for the first time, whenever people see Jimin they always say "He's pretty", and it kinda upsets me in a way, because people definitely pay attention to his looks way more than they do his talent, especially when they get to know BTS for the first time. I mean it's pretty obvious especially when there's videos on Youtube literally titled "Jimin making men question their sexuality for 40 min straight", it has to due with his looks. And it sometimes makes me question if Jimin wasn't as pretty as he was, we he have as many fan-boys/fans as he does now? Because he's an incredible singer/dancer we all know this, and he's really talented in many fields but the main reason why he sticks out to people is because he's really good-looking. And even the numbers show, because when it comes to his solo music or his views/followers or whatever, compared to the other members his is kinda lower than the rests. For example the ones who are the most successful music/streams wise is Hobi and Jungkook. Jungkook holds the top 2 most streamed solo song by a soloist of all time. Taehyung is the most followed on Instagram. Jungkook performed at the WC, and the event people Chose him specifically because they said they loved his voice. J-hope has the most followers on Spotify out of all the members, Jungkook holds the record for the most streamed cover song within the first 24 hours. Namjoon had the highest charting solo-album in history for a Korean solo artist. Jin has the most shazamed song by a K-soloist. Jungkook has the fastest Korean-OST to hit 100 million streams. Hobi performed in front of 100k people at a music festival, the most in the festivals history. Yoongi at some point had the most-streamed solo album by a K-soloist. In terms of records like that, Jimin doesn't really have any, and I think it's because there's way more people who would rather look at how pretty he is vs actually stream/support his musical side. And it pisses me off, because I don't want people only stanning him because he's good-looking he deserves more than that.
