I'm going to try to say this in the nicest way possible because it's not meant to be a diss, but Jimins voice is so unique sounding that his voice just sometimes doesn't always fit the vibe/feeling that the song is trying to convey, Jimin's voice doesn't fit in every single song/genre and that's okay, there's nothing wrong with that, but y'all have to understand when they do collabs or when they do songs in general they are trying to convey a specific type of feeling, For their western collabs, most of their western collabs are poppy and trendy sounding, and everyone is alway like "Why does Jungkook always get the most lines in the collab songs", and that's because (whether people want to admit it or not) Jungkooks voice is litearlly pop personified, I mean he isn't called the Main POP boy for no reason, Jungkook out of everyone in the group has the most trendiest, and the most "ear candy" type of voice that locals/people who don't know about BTS usually gravitate towards, for example when My Universe was released Jungkook actually ended up going viral among locals because of his voice/vocals. It's a bit upsetting when some members aren't appointed the luxury of lines like others, but y'all have to remember not everyone can fit every song. When it comes to genre, Jungkooks voice is the most versatile as he's able to blend his voice with literally any song/genre so producers, songwriters and the members use that to their advantage. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

With bts being the featuring artist and not the other way around, I'm completely fine with how heavy they went on here. They understood the assignment, killed and left. The dance break at the end was specifically for them since he knows they like choreo.

RE: the scheduling, what I remember is that Chris was given special permission by the S. Korean government to be there for two days without having to spend 10 days in quarantine. So, he truly could only be there for 2 days. Also, because this wasn't a BTS-only song, and because ARMY was getting pretty broke after supporting two other songs this year (Butter and PTD), I don't think this song was quite as big on the charts (although it has still been on Billboard for 10 weeks so far). The reality is that Dynamite was an enormous hit and could be heard everywhere...and My Universe has Korean so it didn't get the same radion support as Dynamite either.

Great discussion. This collaboration with BTS got Coldplay to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100!and also made it possible for BTS to chart on some of the Rock charts for the first time giving them more exposure. These guys wanted to do a song with Coldplay and were humble enough to be a feature. They still broke records and charted on charts like no 1 on The Rolling Stones Hot 100 Songs Chart first time ever for BTS, No 35 on Rolling Stones Artist 500 Charts, appeared on rock song charts for the first time. No 23.(alternative airplay) and no 42 (rock alternative airplay), no 1 on Hot Rock and Hot alternative song charts. All of this while just featuring on a song.

-So this MV was impressive just cuz how grand it is makes me think of the guardians of the galaxy movie. -I feel like doing this collaboration helped cold play more than BTS. A lot of ARMYs started supporting cold play cuz of BTS idk how it is the other way around tbh. -I felt torn when I was listening with you guys debating ๐Ÿ˜… I understood what Lo is saying cuz I knew about BTS for a long time but still did not care to listen to them even seeing the Halsey collaboration and the only thing that made me take notice was hearing Dynamite on the radio and on the other hand I understand what the others are saying but I still think that the collaboration helped Coldplay more -what I donโ€™t like about this song is the lack of lines for Jin and Jimin. I know itโ€™s a cold play song but still every time they do a west collab like waste it on me, savage love for example Jimin seems to be put in background vocals and yes this is a biased opinion since he is my bias ๐Ÿ˜…

There are tons of fan made recordings of the last night of concert held on Dec 2nd on YouTube. You can definitely check it out to see for yourself how it was before BigHit/Hybe starts blocking them. Also they streamed the last night and you could buy it on Weverse at the time. Replay is tomorrow night. I went to live event but also purchased the online concert so I could enjoy it one more time!!!

I will try not to go into a long essay. My Universe has a whole ass storyline that I seriously love and hope they show more of in the future. Like the third band- SuperNova7, which is a made-up band specifically for this story/video. Each member has a name, an instrument, and a personality. I'll just name them- Blaze- is the weird furry alien you see dancing around with maracas Eko- is the Dark Elf looking woman with a lot of metal jewelry playing the keyboard like instrument. Loop and Switch- the two platypus looking aliens that are playing a chime system. Kasio Mars- the blue haired alien someone said looked like Beetlejuice lol. He was playing a guitar/keyboard/chime instrument. Dorean Delorean- The giant robot alien playing the drums Angel Moon- the Fairy like woman with 3 sets of ears. She was playing a wind instrument, The band is from a planet called Supersolice, I believe. Coldplay's band was supposed to be from a planet called Floris, and BTS is supposed to be from a planet called Calypso. Because the theme of the song and the story was about bringing people from different worlds together, they wouldn't have filmed together anyway. They were supposed to be from different planets. This MV is one of my favorites and I continue to watch it. I hope you guys watch one of the two live performances BTS and Coldplay have done together of this song. Actually, the story line is from Coldplay. They made a comic series that has characters and the Silencers chasing them throughout space and time to hold up the law of no sound and no color or music. The story started in 2012 about Mylo Xyloto, a Silencer, who is in a war against sound and color. There is another group that rebels and are called Sparkers. They create sparks that are colorful musical graffiti. The Supernova 7 band is new foe this video but is goes along with the storyline Coldplay started in 2012. Also this is Coldplay's song technically and BTS colabed with them on it. The song is on their album and they are performing it at their concerts with BTS in a video played in the background. And Chris does sing JK and V's parts with them in Korean. It's amazing ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

Remember, in the documentary which was filmed around Butter era, Chris Martin said the idea of a collab popped up 18 mos ago. So that was pre Dynamite. Also, even if BTS doesnโ€™t need Coldplay to expand their market, they look up to Coldplay so just the idea of collab alone is an honor for BTS, they said that themselves.

If you watch the BTS Hardships video by xCeleste, you'll appreciate this collaboration even more. When BTS covered Coldplay's "Fix You" for MTV unplugged, the success of the cover was tainted by horrible racist remarks made by a German DJ who was offended that BTS had dared to cover Coldplay--ARMY of course responded en masse (as did many celebrities who collaborated with BTS in the past) condemning his remarks and demanding an apology, which never really came. In a way, I feel that Coldplay reaching out and making this collab happen was a way of responding to that DJ and other racists and haters, to show them that even though both groups "come from different sides" they are equal and can love and respect each other. Again, strongly recommend xCeleste's BTS Hardships video (the updated one) ... it gives a lot of context for many of their songs, including "My Universe" and all the Cyphers.

Oh I know it's from coldplay and the story they have going. I saw theories on Angel Moon being the same alien girl from the higher power MV. Not sure if it's true, but if it is, awesome. I also know Chris took the time to sing the korean parts along with some of the members. It's great that he did that. This story also has a comic book/webtoon I heard. Coldplay put out something like that a while back. I just hope they touch on it more- Like I said. It is a great song and I enjoy it a lot. I'm glad the two bands did this. Also, yes, it's a Coldplay song- it is on their Album after all, but this song does feel like a true collaboration. Where both parties involved were heavily involved together and worked together- As shown in the mini documentary. I hope BTS get more collaborations like this. And I hope they get to do something with Coldplay again, as both groups got along well and have respect for what each other does. โŸญโŸฌ๐Ÿ’œโŸฌโŸญ

I agree with Keith and Jerick about this collab and how it helped expand their market. There's UK charts, which is different from Billboard. When this song came out, it did numbers not just in Billboard. This peaked at #1 at UK Trending Chart and UK Official Singles chart. It definitely helped other markets be exposed to their music, may it just be 1% or more. And it kinda is a smart move, with them in the Rolling Stones rock chart first time and UK charts because of this song, this serves like a foot in the door for when they release future music. Also, just want to point out, even when BTS is the biggest act in the world, there are certain markets which are blocked to their music, probably by mediaplay or radioplay. If that makes sense.

Also, about what Keith said that the MV could've had a frame shot where BTS and Coldplay are together. The backstory explains why they had to shoot separately and that is why they had to use holograms. They were meant to be in different planets and not be together.
