I was waiting for your reaction. Great review! ) I must say, he stayed true to himself and took a risk to show his deep thoughts in completely different music not created for charts and still did so well! He has grown incredibly as an artist for the last couple years and you could hear this growth in his lyrics, rapping, vocals or flow... the beat is crazy as well... The whole concept of the album is fire! As for you feeling Arson to be in the wrong place on the album .... JHope said it himself that he chose the order of songs on purpose. He wrote More during the pandemic in early 2020 and that is why it has such a heavy rock vibe showing his frustration at that time.... Future was more about him investigating his soul and expressing to us his need to be told the same words he used to say to others.... like -i am your hope, you are my hope -for example... It was not any statement about the future in particular. And Arson was made as the last song on purpose as a question mark. He said that there was an unanswered question there and he perhaps might answer this question later in his future projects. Same goes for colors in his covers of previous MVs... All is thought out very well. He told after his Daydream debut that he used bright clips and covers mostly for serious or sad topics in his music in order to distract people and not depress them completely with his lyrics. And as for white and black clothes, the whole concept for JITB is a chess board.... Showing the process of making an important decision as well as also making us stay focused on his lyrics without being distracted by flashy clothes. Same goes for the lack of dancing as well... He promised to surprise us again when doing this album live. Perhaps he will do Hope World as well as he got an hour time to perform at the festival. Best album for me so far. Short and sweet. He is such a tease!

Rem Nick touched a bit on the album performance previously - not to deny there are solo stans as with OT7 fans contributing respective impact on album perf but this reddit thread brought up factors/considerations that gives perspectives to certain comparisons to BTS/members' work that might very well be on apples-to-oranges basis as well as on the numbers game - https://www.reddit.com/r/kpopthoughts/comments/w4kvx7/jhopes_solo_debut_made_me_realize_the_obvious_gap/ --- P/s: quote as extracted from comment by Ghetto_Leda99 "BTS has done a stationhead stream for YTC after Festa and that pulled 50K as well and it was non-working hours at that whereas Hobi's was hosted in the middle of the day for most people and yet he still managed to do 33K."

I am with Kurt. Hobi has discussed what his intention was. He has made the album as an entire concept and it works, brilliantly. It has to be accepted on its own terms in terms of time, the length of individual tracks, etc. Blue Side on Hope World was very short. Three years later he expanded it to over three minutes, I believe, and it is breathtakingly beautiful. He is an original of major proportions. Jack in the Box is a 10 for me.

With my short time being an ARMY, learning everything I have so far about BTS, from their music, their lyrics, watching their MVs, watching/reading their interviews/lives (and there’s still so much I haven’t seen) and also learning from day 1 ARMYs, I really don’t think BTS does anything as an afterthought. Through Hobi’s interviews and vlogs about JITB he explains why he intentionally put Arson as the last track. For anyone to really understand BTS, it’s not just about their music. Everything they do and say, all connects to everything they put out, to tell their story. I mean the cover art to J-Hope’s Blue Side had an image of a Jack in the Box. Hobi has been working on this whole theme of this album since then.

Like your feedback, some armys have also been commenting on the short length of the songs and wish for it to be longer

Great reaction yall and I loved the whole album review as well. I definitely need yall to watch the interview friends that way yall can understand why he put the tracks the way he did. Another thing is that I can definitely agree and understand all yall points they are valid. Also I definitely agree with Curt as well he definitely knew and explained what his intentions were. Hope did not come to play he understood the assignment! The only thing I do wish for not gonna lie is that the album to be longer I enjoyed it but it wasn't long enough lol other than that can't wait for more from yall keep the reactions coming 😊💜

Not quite apple-to-apple but like for Blue Side, there's def a diff btw the initial 1.30m version and subsequent release of the 3.19m version. Its a fundamentally good melody, long or short but the longer version allows the telling of a more complete story & experience. Saw someone post the below on reddit & thot it makes for interesting discussion in the next follow-up video on Jhope's album. *RM also brought up the shorter songs trend in Festa Dinner 2022. Posted by Macklemore on his instagram and quote "My last album Gemini came out 5 years ago. The music industry has changed so much in the last 6 months, much less since the release of that album. I found myself feeling completely disconnected. We spent dinners talking about algorithms, how to make content, consistency, likes, views and plays. Spiritually I felt the negative effects. Artists are currently treading water in a sea of fear that is plaguing the music industry. I can feel it within my peers. The pressure from their labels. It's the fear that if there's not a dance or a viral moment on Tik Tok, the art that we've created will never be heard. The fear that a song will immediately die if it doesn't make it on certain playlists. We as consumers scroll through songs and bypass albums in a quest for fast food content to momentarily sustain our dwindling attention spans. We listen in 15 second intervals and rarely get past the first 5 songs on a project."
