Fun fact, the daughter in the alternate dream world was actually the Doug actor and JLH's daughter!

I have SO MUCH to say about this episode! First though. Of course even in his coma dream Buck is stressing people out. Hen and Chim were going through it there! 🤣 I love all the figurines/toys that Buck is kinda drawn to in his dream. First the ferris wheel, representing the tsunami and we hear Chris screaming for him faintly over that moment. Then he picks up a firetruck toy that's laying on it's side, representing the bombing and when he was trapped under one. Then there was the train that was stood upright like the train derailment when Abby came back. And then the plane representing the plane crash in S1. All these big moments in his life represented by toys. And the picture at Maddie's of the snowy foresty area representing when Buck got to Maddie after she killed Doug. I LOVE Buck being a teacher in his dream. Just the idea of him having a childhood where he was given attention and love and so he didn't need to hurt himself to get it, so he didn't end up in a job where he's constantly hurting himself to save others. And of course he would end up a teacher. He's great with kids, he loves learning things. I love the focus on Buck and Bobby's relationship so much! I love both May and Athena making comments about Buck being Bobby's kid. With May outright saying it and Athena heavily implying it by saying he couldn't lose Buck because he already lost two kids. They really went heavy on that in this episode and I love it! Like, we've known from the first episode that's the dynamic between them. From their very first interaction on the show where Bobby outright says that Buck calls him Pops (WHY HAS THAT NEVER BEEN MENTIONED AGAIN?! Haha) And the more it's put in the show the happier it makes me. I just love when shows actively acknowledge those bonds. I also love that the secondary relationship focus really seemed to be Buck and Chimney. Not quite as much, but there was quite a bit. With Chim feeling guilty because he was supposed to go up the ladder, and then not wanting to leave or rest and having Hen tell him he needs to take a break. He was the one Buck went to in his dream when he needed help. It just makes me happy. I always love when they focus on that relationship. And I love Buck telling dream Chim that he and Maddie should be married. He's been their biggest shipper since pretty much day one! (After he got over the confusion and weirdness when he first realised they'd been hanging out...) And he's been asking them about getting married since 3x01! He is ready for a brother in law that he actually likes! 🤣 But I love that different relationship those two have. Because it IS different to any of the others. They're not only family through the 118. They've both met each other's parents (well, not Chim's mum obviously... and others eventually met the Buckley's, but not to the same extent...) and Chim witnessed all the stuff in 4x04 with the Buckley's. From the baby box to the breakdown and all the coldness. Ya know? And they've lived together on multiple occasions. So it made me happy to see a bit more focus on their relationship in this episode. Speaking of Chimney though. I also love him saying to Albert about how he understands his Dad way less now that he's a father. Because literally! He can't imagine treating her the way he was treated! Chris makes me cry. Him saying "You're going to be okay." JUST LIKE RIGHT BEFORE THE TSUNAMI WHEN HE TOLD HIM "You're gonna be okay, kid." CHRISTOPHER! 😭 Bobby being dead in his dream though. And the "I don't think you can bring me back from the dead even in here." HE COULD! It's his dream. Anything could happen. Him being there despite being dead just proves that. To me it feels like Buck's subconscious kinda giving him a reason he couldn't stay there. Like, he could've got Maddie away from Doug and with Chimney, he could've probably found a way to get Chris back with Eddie. He could've basically made it the perfect world where Daniel is alive and his parents always showed they love him and were good parents, and he could've fixed pretty much everything there. And realistically, Bobby could've come back to life as it was a dream. But deep down, he didn't want to stay. And he needed something big enough to push him to get out of there. And the thing he couldn't live with is Bobby dead. Which is why that last scene with them gets me every time! "I do find it hard to believe you left a world where you could fix everything." "Not everything. Believe me. It's better here." The one thing he "couldn't fix" was just unimaginable for him. He couldn't live in a world where Bobby was dead. Especially not a world where Bobby was dead due to his addiction. Agh, I love them! It's so random, but during the hospital scenes in the dream you can see so many pregnant women. Which I assume represents Kameron and the baby which is kinda adorable. I love the scene of Buck figuring out he doesn't need to fix everything. He just needs to be in his family's lives. Being Buck is enough. Then him running and Chim shows up saying he met Maddie and thinks they have a shot at getting her away from Doug, but Buck blows him off and keeps going. Then he sees Chris who asks for help finding his Dad, but Buck again says he can't and keeps going. Basically saying that sometimes he needs to put himself first and not focus so much on saving everyone around him. (It definitely helps that he knew it was a dream and Maddie and Chris were actually fine...) Then the moment with dream parents where they apologise. His face as he hugs them, just wanting to savour this moment with parents who he truly feels love him. Then Daniel. The hardest of them all. The first person he ever failed to save. The one person who if he leaves will just be dead. And then Daniel telling him he was just born for spare parts and they were defective, THEN TURNING INTO BUCK! Daniel is his biggest insecurity. The person he'll never be, who he'll never meet. His brother who he was born to save but couldn't. The son his parents had wanted. Agh, I love it so much! "There is not a locked room anywhere that with the right tools and enough time you can't break into." BOBBY SAID THAT IN SEASON 5! AGH! I love that in an episode heavily focused on Buck and Bobby's father/son bond they had Buck quote Bobby in the moment of him saving himself! SO PERFECT!!! Athena telling Buck to wake up and then dream Buck hearing and shouting at the ceiling "Yeah, I'm trying!" The music playing in the background when Buck shows up to Chimney's apartment is Thunder by Imagine Dragons. Which is just perfect. I really wanna know what it says on the whiteboard in that room though. When Buck and Daniel go in there, there's a whiteboard and you can see a few words but not the whole thing and I can never figure out what it says. So if anyone knows, please tell me! 🤣 Still hate the Buckley parents and Chimney's Dad though. 🤣

I can't be certain, but I THINK it's "Remember, no man is a failure who has friends." It's from the movie It's a Wonderful Life. It would certainly be appropriate.
