Weekly Update - 8/14/24 (Patreon)

I've been advised to start taking daily walks again, so that's maybe resulted in both a slight grumpiness and an uptick in energy, as I'm trying to get more done, although I spent all of today editing other people's stuff. I'm most of the way through Quaranteam: Selected Servicing 2, which will be send to its commissioner within the next day or so. I dropped the first chapter of that for Alpha readers yesterday, and I'm very happy with how it turned out. It'll drop for all patrons next month, and then on the public sites six months after that.

I wasn't sure about doing a commission focused on the staff, particularly on Nicolette, simply because having parts of her remain a mystery is some of the fun of the character, but I think I found a way to keep the whole thing going well and to both provide more insight into Nicolette and still retain some of that aura of mystery about her.

The next few months have got some travelling coming up, just a weekend's worth in September (which I'll probably talk about more after its done), and then a couple of weeks in New Zealand in October, but I'll make sure I'm doing everything I can to have content while I'm away. (I say 'away' but I always have my laptop with me wherever I go...)

I finished watching Season 3 of The Bear, and as much as I love that show, man can it be a tough watch for anyone who's a creative person trying to put things into the world. I feel you Carmy, but be more Olivia Coleman and less Joel McHale. (That'll make sense if you watch it, promise.)

Coming up for the rest of the month, we still have Breakpoint (which I think'll be Friday), QTB2, A Pack Of His Own and Brewster's Brood, plus the You Decide! (that poll will go up tonight and run through the weekend) and whatever else I can squeeze into this month. The walking's definitely helping, I think. It's just the initial hurdle of getting going again.

Look after yourselves. It's getting wild and wooly out there, even if we've got a large streak of hope to help brighten up the day.

(And yes, I am talking about the announcement that NINE INCH NAILS will be scoring the next Tron movie. Jared Leto's involvement has me super nervous, but Jeff Bridges is coming back, and Trent Reznor never forgets his A game.)
