Weekly Update - 9/4/24 (Patreon)
Content
Weird few days. I started coughing on Sunday, and Monday was phlegmy enough to wonder if I'd actually contracted the fictional disease I invented. But I slept for 12 hours last night, and that left me with energy when I woke up this morning, although still this barking cough. I'm halfway through getting the next chapter of A Pack Of His Own to the commissioner and halfway through the next chapter of Brewster's Brood, which means neither is done yet, but they're both coming.
What I did do, however, was, at a reader's request, catalog all the various QT stories that are in print, their authors and where they can be found, and that took a little bit longer than I thought it would. Best guess, there's approaching (or maybe even over!) 3 million words or so written across the Quaranteam universe, by 14 (or more!) authors. I'll try and keep this semi-updated but probably on a monthly basis. If it's been a month since I've updated it, don't be afraid to ping me and remind me.
This is the current QT-verse listing.
Keep in mind, there are a bunch of other people still working on their debut chapters, so expect that to keep on growing. It's great to see people taking their shot and swinging for the fences in writing, but keep in mind if you want me to take a look at them, don't send us more than 5k or so. If you're thinking about pitching a QT story, here's our tips for that.
I've written about 1k words in QT2:31, so I'm clearly all over the place right now in terms of headspace, but something'll come out soon enough. The sudden and ferocious heatwave hitting the west coast has been of no help at all in letting me focus. Much of the Bay Area has been under a Heat Advisory since yesterday - (93 yesterday, 94 today, 94 again tomorrow, 90 on Friday, 84 on Saturday) - and that's been fucking lovely, he said, sarcasm dripping from his keyboard.
Someone was asking what it would take to do an updated Visual Guide for the Quaranteam series of stories, and all I can tell you is we'd need a surge in either new users or upped payments. There's two target numbers on my board, we're not all that far from either, and whichever one we hit first, it'll trigger me posting an expanded version of the Visual Guide, which is where I cast who I would want to star in all the major roles in the Quaranteam stories, if time, money and living status weren't currently a thing. (I say this because Dr. Bill McKenna has and always will be Martin Mull in my eyes...)
So if you've got friends you think would enjoy my content, let'em know. And if you want to up your level of subscription, consider doing so. The 2nd edition Visual Guide would cover most of the major characters introduced so far in B2 (including the intermissions), and all the characters covered in Phil's Tale. I might even go so far as to try and get the cast of McCallister's in there as well.
And, in what may be a record for weirdness in my life, I woke up after a couple of hours of sleep, sitting up bolt upright in bed, realizing I never posted this news update.
The public release schedule: 9/7 - Before The Storm 10, QTB2:i4; 9/14 - QT2:21, Pack 10; 9/21 - QTPT 19; 9/28 - Neon Stonehenge 6, QTAA 10 (conclusion); 10/5 - Pack 11, QTUM 2.
Anyway, that's all she wrote for tonight. Tomorrow I'll struggle to get something out, assuming my throat still works.
