Weekly Update - 9/21/22 (Patreon)

In case you've been living under a rock for the last few months of updates, the end of this week will mark the release of Quaranteam Chapter 50, which also marks the end of Quaranteam: Book One. I give it 50/50 odds at this point whether it'll be Friday or Saturday, because as much writing as I've already done (seriously, I've got 15 pages done now and I still have a shitload left to do), this marks the end of Book One and so getting it right is of vital importance. The speech from the President, the 60 Minutes stories, and loads and loads more.

When I put out QT50, I'm also going to put out a larger-ish PDF and epub file which will not include the whole book, but like the most recent 20 chapters or so. As I've said repeatedly, the first 15-20 chapters need a shitload of cleaning, adjusting and improving, which is going to be a major project for the month of October, as I prep for the physical release of QT:B1 as both an official release on Amazon and for their Kindle store. I wrote up the concept of the cover art for my artist friend and will be passing it on to them in the next few days.

Now, as my loyal subscribers, here's what's going to happen -- in late October, I will release to all Patrons a revised book 1 for free as both a .pdf and an .epub, but this will be a barebones version of Chapters 1-50. The print/for sale version will include plenty of other things, most of which you've already gotten as a subscriber - all 5 chapters of Piper's Prelude, the first several chapters of Phil's Tale, a pictureless version of the guide to characters, all of the profiles that have been written at the time of publication, and a one-off story that I haven't written yet, which will be exclusive to the for-sale version. I'm thinking I might do something about Niko's first days on the base, but I'm also open to suggestions as to what might be a nice one-off for the book. 

So if you want to just have the revised main book, as a Patron, you'll have that as part of your subscription automatically. (There will not be one long Patreon post with the whole book in text form - I don't know if Patreon can handle something that big and it's probably unwieldy if it can.) If you want to support me a little further and buy a copy for either your Kindle or your bookshelf, that'll be even better. 

I am not going to go back to the public sites with the revised versions of the earlier chapters - it's too much damn work and frankly, anyone who's that invested in the story is probably either here as a Patron already, or can pony up for the for-sale version of the book. As a reminder, Quaranteam: Book One will be printed under the pen name Devin McTaggart, although the Corrupting Power brand will be mentioned in the back of book copy. QT:B2 is currently penciled in for starting either in late November or early December. If I'm very lucky, I'll post QT2:1 on 11/29 but it's too early to commit to that right now. 

Next week, we'll have a return to Janus Coins: John's Story for 9/27 and wrap up the month with QT:PT11 on 9/30. Somewhere between here and there I'll also release The Devil's Details 3, as well as the Quaranteam profile for Lexi (for those at the Tier 3 and up level). I'm also still behind on commissions right now, so I'm already planning for 10/4 to be The Devil's Details 4 instead of a normal release, so I can spend a good part of the next two weeks getting caught up on commissions from August/September and getting a head start on them for October. (Man, Covid really beat the literal shit out of me...)

10/7 will be Brewster's Brood 23 and 10/11 will be the first fan chosen story for October. The poll for that will go up tomorrow. In fact, you know what? Because I know it's definitely possible I'll slip to Saturday with QT50, I'm going to make tomorrow a very busy day for the Patreon, with the poll, the profile and DD3 all going up around the same time. 

I also want to confirm that the new Silversmith story will be happening for 10/28, and to say that the idea of it hopped into my head a few days ago. Should I give it its own title, or should I call it A Treat's Trick ('22) instead? Inquiring minds want to know.

The public release schedule for the next month looks like this: 9/24 - QTPT8, 10/1 - Before The Storm 1, 10/8 - QT: Piper's Prelude 3, 10/15 - QT46, 10/22 - Morgana's Gift 11, 10/29 - QT 47.

Anyway, all of this is distracting me from what I should be doing, which is writing QT50, so back to the word mines, and I can't wait for everyone to see all of the big reveals in QT50. I expect the Discord discussion to blow the fuck up once it drops.
