Movie Run Time: 2:10:10

You will need your own copy of the movie to watch along! 😁

First of the Actors Breakthrough Roll Poll winners! I know I watched the movie but I feel like it was a dream 😆 The kind of dreams you have when you're really really tired and you can't remember if it was real life or not. Maybe I was in the movie? Nothing would surprise me at this point.

Arnold won the Mr. Universe bodybuilding competition 4 years in a row. 1967 as an amateur and '68-'70 at the pro level. Arnold also went on to win Mr. Olympia seven times. Six in a row 1970 -1975 and again in 1980.

Chicago Artist Jon

Lou Ferrigno, Franco Columbu, Dorian Yates, Ronnie Coleman those guys were our heroes when we were kids.

Robert Inman

This was more of a fan film for the pulp fiction and comic followers of the Conan character. As a result, I think the pacing with origin story etc. was a bit slow in places. Dawn seemed a bit antsy at times. These early roles got Arnold a reputation as a poor actor, which he was able to shake later in his career.

Lou came in 2nd behind Arnold in '74 and 3rd in '75. Another "Hercules", Steve Reeves won the amateur Mr. Universe in 1950....and yet another "Hercules", Mariska Hargitay's dad Mickey won in '55...but his biggest win was marrying Jayne Mansfield. Yowza.

I couldn't suffer to the end.

It has been a long time since I watched this movie. I like it, but always been really slow. The 2nd one has a totally different feel, it is a lot lighter "Conan the Destroyer" (1984)

Hadn't seen this since I was a teenager. Still not great, but better than I remembered. - Cinematography and score I thought were good - James Earl Jones did his best, but the rest of the acting was pretty bad. - Endless long shot of people staring (at each other or into space) really dragged the movie down. I had the same reaction as Dawn, imaging the cameraman circling and zooming into Arnie's face after the 50th shot of him staring at the horizon. I had no idea Oliver Stone was involved with the script. Apparently, his original script was a some wild 4-hour post apocalytic fever dream filled with mutants and huge battle scenes, and very little from that screenplay made it into the final movie. I'm glad Dawn didn't give it a BME just because it had an elephant in it.
