Yes there are many sides. But you don't have to make up your mind about all of them at this point. Both because in some situations it remains unclear, and others because these factions' goals aren't primarily anti- Rimuru all the time. ......... A reminder that Demon Lords can be recognized as having the title Demon Lord, even if they never evolved to an awakened (true) Demon Lord. What the assemblage at the meeting were saying, is that they realized that Rimuru wasn't your run-of-the-mill average Demon Lord, he is much more threatening. That we know Rimuru wouldn't do anything drastic is easy for us to say, but for most of the players in the world he has proven he would take lives "mercilessly" under certain conditions, monsters and Demon Lords are nominally, at least, anti-human and anti-Church, and operate outside the normal boundaries of society, like international law, and finally, they simply don't know him beyond a few rumors and bits of intelligence that come their way. They also are realizing some people are altering the message (no, not the message crystal from Rimuru), but others, such as from the Eastern merchants. There is some discussion of which Demon Lords are awakened, and apparently it is well-known that Guy Crimson and Milim Nava are awakened. They are the two oldest, and their exploits are the stuff of legend. There are other awakened, and after Carrion, Frey, and Clayman died or stepped down, the remainder were on a higher level than those three, even those not awakened. ........ Factions we know about or who were mentioned: Church, and factions within the Church; Yuuki, the Clowns, and Kazalim; Eastern merchants (The East are the lands east of Dwargon, Tempest, and Milim's territories. We don't know much about the except Veldora's disappearance worried the West not just about the monsters in the Forest of Jura, but that the perceived barrier Veldora represented would no longer deter an invasion through the Forest by the East. It was hinted at a few times in Season 1.) Two other factions mentioned in this episode were the Council of the West and the "top brass" of the Free Union (Adventurers Guild). Currently, by someone spreading the rumor that a demon is responsible for killing Reyhiem, they are instigating external interference in the form of the Temple Knights stationed in the nations surrounding Falmuth getting involved in the Civil War. Diablo wasn't expecting his plan to go awry this much. The reasons for this hasn't been explained yet. I haven't explained the internal organization of the church, but for now, Hinata doesn't feel she can oppose the Seven Days Clergy in public. Louis is behind a veil since he is Emperor of Lubelius. A reverence for the Emperor to the degree of likening them to a deity is sometimes seen in Eastern cultures in this world. ........ That's all I can remember off the top of my head. There are a few technical details I could fill in later.

Each group in the church have title variations. The Paladins are aka Holy Knights. The Rooks are aka Crusaders. The Seven Luminaries are aka Seven Days Clergy..... There are some other names for the same people as well. Last season it was made clear that Hinata holds two titles. Those titles are reflected by the two groups sitting on opposite sides of the table. The Master Rooks on one side (3), and the Paladins on the other (6). Together they are the Ten Great Saints. Saints are the counterparts of Demon Lord for humans. Back to this later. The Rooks are under the Lubelius, while the Paladins are under the Church. There is a difference in culture, attitude, and loyalties between the two factions. The Paladins are personally loyal to Hinata. She developed them into a much more disciplined group than prior to her taking command. It's hard to tell with the fast pace of the conversation, but it was a bit obvious who was being more disrespectful. ................ Saints are members of the Enlightened class, also called Sage class. Saints can be awakened or not. An awakened saint is a True Saint. All of the Ten Saints are of the Enlightened class, and can call themselves a Saint, but only Hinata is awakened. Enlightened can include Summoned Otherworlders from outside the Ten Great Saints, outside the Church. Humans, when overcoming a grueling task or training sometimes evolve, and they become longer-lived, a semi-spiritual being, and, of course, much stronger. This, according to some, is the "right" way to evolve. The Seven Luminaries "surpass... the realm of Enlightened", and are supposed to train Heroes. The trial Hinata underwent that Luminus directed her to do is a trial meant to select Heroes. Hinata thought she had nothing to learn from them afterwards (she copied their Skills). One thing is that humans who awaken take time, centuries actually, to fully evolve. ........
