Mystique, whose real name is Raven Darkhölme, is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. She is best known for being a mutant villain and a recurring member of the Brotherhood of Mutants, as well as for her association with the X-Men.

Mystique's distinctive feature is her mutant ability of shapeshifting, which allows her to assume the appearance of anyone, including their voice and fingerprints. This ability makes her a master of disguise and manipulation.

Created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum, Mystique made her first appearance in "Ms. Marvel" #16 in 1978. The character was portrayed by Rebecca Romijn in the initial X-Men film trilogy directed by Bryan Singer and later by Jennifer Lawrence in the second trilogy and other films in the franchise.
