Broken Hearts. Mended Lives Chapter 28 (Patreon)

The Purifer's most certainly weren't ready to track a group of low-quality speedsters through the thick forest. Especially when we didn't hesitate to slaughter them en mass or blow up their helicopters out of the air.

Thankfully though Hinata got herself back under control quickly enough. So she wasn't a liability and needed to be carried. As although she at first needed to be carried, after a few minutes she was back to normal.

And then she was leading us through the thick forest, showing even the vampires how to more easily run through the thick forest with the skill of someone who was born in the Land of Fire.

Night was turning into day and to say the least, Hinata and I were getting rather tired after running through the night after being up for a good while. So I took a deep breath and said. "Alright lets-"

A loud rumble in the air made me pause and my face pinched as from out of nowhere a very familiar fucking jet plane broke through the air. "God dammit." I sagged as I saw the X-Men's signature Blackbird flying past before banking towards us.

"Jake, you know them?" Elsa asked as her crimson eyes and white hair reflected the light from the Blackbird's search light's landing on us.

I sagged and said with some annoyance. "Yeah... I know them, they are with the Xmen. A group of mutants basically." 

The Blackbird came down to a landing in the nearby clearing so I just sighed and said. "Well... Let's go meet our old friends Hinata." 

Hinata herself gently squeezed my hand before saying softly. "It will be ok Jake. I can tell the one's who came to see us last time weren't hostile people."

My lips twitched and I retorted mentally. 'Yeah, but their pet telepath decided to get a mental train ran on her for touching your mind.'

But I kept that thought to myself as I gave Hinata a squeeze around the waist before I took the lead and began heading over toward the jet that had landed in the next clearing.

Once we got there, I tilted my head slightly as I saw there were three people there that I easily recognized. Colossus who was easily recognizable due to his large metal body that gleamed off the lights coming off the Blackbird.

And then there was Hank Mcoy or Beast who was standing beside the also easily seen short king that was the fucking Wolverine! 

"So you guys are here to pick us up?" I asked bluntly to the group.

And Wolverine took a deep sniff before saying flatly. "You ran into the Purifer's... There are more people hunting you, and they won't come in loud  easy to shoot down helicopters."

I sagged slightly as I brushed a hand across my face before I muttered. "Why the hell are we being hunted for fucks sake? We aren't doing terrorist bullshit or anything?" 

Hank Mcoy hopped a bit closer with Else and Annika beside me tensing slightly but I just held up a hand in annoyance as I wanted to hear Hank out at least as he was normally a stand-up guy.

"Young man, My name is Hank Mcoy, or just call me Beast. But you yourself understand the violence and hatred humans just have for us who are different. Your... Companion Hinata also suffered from such discrimination as you well know."

I held in a twitch as I knew Hinata's suffering most certainly didn't come from her being a mutant. But I kept that to myself.

"Jake, let me be honest... Shield itself is interested in you because of your ability to no-sell telepathic powers as they want you as an agent for them. And their info security-"

Hank was cut off as Colossus spoke up bluntly in a thick Russian accent. "My name is Piotr and their info-security for a spy agency has more holes than a plate of onion rings."

The vampires tittered at that comparison while I could feel Hinata and Ahri standing at my sides with Hinata asking calmly. "So we should go with you? So we would be safe?" 

There was a pause before Hank smiled wryly and said easily. "Well yeah of course. The Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters is a safe place for you all... Though, I do have to ask. You do realize those two are vampires right? And you... I am afraid I do not know what you are." Hank admitted as he looked at Ahri.

There was a pause as Wolverine gave me a knowing look before chuckling and saying. "Oh... From the way he smells, he knows what they are quite clearly. Bud, are you a regenerator as well?" 

My lips twitched as I realized Wolverine could probably smell me all over my girls with how all over me they could be at times. "I got a bit of an enhanced healing factor. But it's more of extreme life force which powers my other powers then healing." I admitted.

Then Ahri helpfully added calmly. "Jake told us a bit about your school, how it was filled with other special kids and adults. But I am not a mutant, I am a Gumiho who needs to eat human life force." 

The three men shared a look and Wolverine said blandly. "We have an essence vampire mutant basically back home. She just wears covering clothing to make sure she doesn't drain anyone by accident. Hell, we even have a literal hellspawn who is half mutant and demon." 

"But neither Ahri, Elsa, nor Annika are mutants... They wouldn't fit in your school." I said calmly and they just stared at me like I was stupid.

"Jake... The X-Men aren't racist, we have side houses on the school's very large grounds for families to come to visit their kids. Or if their children's activation of powers or other issues make it so they lose their housing." Hank explained kindly.

"If there is one superpower Chuck has that no one knows about. Is the fact that he is one of the richest people in the world due to his ability to play the stock market like a fiddle." Wolverine/Logan muttered before he looked at me and said bluntly.

"Your girls are free to come with, I promise you... You aren't the first mutant to come with baggage and so long as your three life force eaters don't cause issues. They will be welcome while we get you situated bud."

I took a deep breath before exhaling as I tried not to be a confrontational ass... As to say the least I was tired in more ways than one. I was fucking tired of running. I didn't want to live in a shitty apartment anymore and I wanted to set down roots for at fucking least a month.

With the X-Men I would be free of Shields bullshit, I wouldn't have to worry about Emma Frost coming after me directly with her Cuckoo's again. And if someone came after me while I was living in the X-Mansion... Well odds were I would put them into the ground anyway.

I just needed to make sure I didn't get pulled into Xavier's bullshit... 'Maybe if we are lucky, he will touch Hinata or Ahri's mind and get mentally wrecked.' I mused at the thought.

"Fine... Girl's are you willing to give this a try?" I asked as I turned my back to the three men to look at my four girls seriously.

The vampires shared a look before Annika said with amusement. "Sorry Jake, but we are following our beloved blood bag. So yes we are coming with." 

And Hinata and Ahri? They also just wanted to stay with me in particular and didn't care where we went.

So I turned back to Beast and said. "Alright, I will give this a chance."
