For those curious about a reaction to the new Mac Miller release, I need to be in the right headspace for it. Apparently it's pretty dark. I chose this album instead as it's been requested pretty often recently.

Enjoy!

Just fyi: Malice’s belt in the Mr. Me Too video said “bape” which is from the brand “A Bathing Ape”, which was very popular in the early aughts (particularly popularized by folks like Pharrell/kanye etc)

Samuel C

“Bape” Is short for “A Bathing Ape”, a Japanese clothing line that Pharrell and Clipse helped popularize. The belt buckle didn’t say what you thought it said 🤣

mills

respect for taking your time with Balloonerism. to be honest it's a much lighter experience than faces. mac isn't talking his death every song lol. people r hyping it up cuz it's the new cool thing but yeah, take ur time Bob! Love the reactions!

Matt

I always took the "So much ice on my neck so I don't get nauseous" line that he is weighing himself down with the weight of his jewelry like an anchor otherwise he ego would make him float, getting higher and higher and get nauseous from the height and sort of a double meaning as his reminder of success makes him humble

Matt

Also Bape is Bathing Ape, a clothing brand that blew up during this time, mostly by Pharrell.

snooza

N*E*R*D's debut album is a must if you want to hear Tyler the Creator's biggest musical influence. They're a group consisting of Pharrell, Chad Hugo & Shay and are great with fusing a bunch of genres (including rock)

blurr

honestly glad ur finally doing this one, freaking classic lol but yeah, please do Balloonerism at some point... it's pretty dark sure, but it's incredibly beautiful and self-aware at the same time

Timothy Payton

This was my junior year in high school I bought this album and would drive to school everyday bumping this, the mid 00s had classic, btw you need to review Till the Casket Drops Also keys open doors Kilo's of coke opens doors

Grand Ason

First let me say how ironic that we're both going back thru The Sopranos. 2nd, you must do Lord Willin!! I think it's a better album. Definitely their most slept on project except for Grindin, which is probably their biggest hit.

Dylan Woods

The fact that Lord Willin and We Got it 4 Cheap Vol. 2 are just as good shows how strong they are.

Everybody meet Mr Me Too

I’ve always described Pusha’s delivery as if he’s rapping to you whilst sat upon a throne made of cocaine. Everything he says is so matter of fact and delivered with complete confidence. He sounds pissed off that he’s gotta explain the shit he’s talking bout to you

Dylan Woods

I'm going to listen to this reaction twice.

Ty

You should listen to older yeat Alivë - 2 Alivë era

Jonathan Pinto

Hey Bob, i would love to see you react to a Dj Quik album, one of the most iconic west coast producers and rapper. Incredible catalog that has had its influence on some of the best today like Kendrick and Tyler. He also has worked with some of the best himself like Tupac, Jay Z, Snoop, etc. He is also the most dominant figure in the sub genre of g funk. I think you would really appreciate his work. (Sorry this is so long, love your content keep up the great work).

bob PLEASE Death Grips The Powers That B, You will be blown away both production and lyrically

Amada

Reacting to the music videos first is definately a much better dynamic and gets the vibe across easier before diving into the albums

Wasp Genocide

Great reaction as always. I got this album when it came out in 2006 and was initially put off by the barebones production (especially because of how different it sounds compared to Clipse's debut), but have since come to love it. Keys Open Doors is a top 5 beat of all time for me. And Malice has some really, really interesting lyricism. I am *really* looking forward to what he has to say on their new album.

Dylan Woods

I would too. Quik is one of my favorite artists. Unfortunately I don't see it happening soon. 90s reactions are seldom. And even in the G Funk category he hasn't done Doggystyle or Death Certificate. I would prefer Quik myself but it's just unlikely to happen before so many others of that era.

Hey Bob loved the video! It seems you really enjoy the production on this album and as you know the neptunes produced it, but if you want to get more into their more rock sound, check out their albums under their band name nerd. I recommend starting with in search of but all of them are good, they have some of the best bridges youll ever hear in music. Check it out!

ANDRES CASTANEDA

If you love this you would love their first album Lord Willin’ it has that early Neptunes production and that’s easily their best sound, and you should also check out N.E.R.D which is the Neptunes + their childhood friend Shay Haley, their debut album In Search Of is amazing along with their second album Fly or Die. They have a more hip hop rock sound that I think you would love for sure

ANDRES CASTANEDA

The Neptunes are known for their weird, unorthodox, outerspace futuristic funk sound, being able to blend many genres together. That’s what has made Pharrell and Chad the legendary production duo that they are. I will say though, not many people know this but Chad wasn’t actually involved with this album at all, 2005, 2006 is when Pharrell kinda started doing most of the production himself while Chad was probably taking care of other things such as his family. 2006 was also the year Pharrell released his classic debut album ‘In My Mind’ doing all the production himself. ‘Lord Willin’ on the other hand Is both Pharrell and Chad all the way through and that’s why I prefer that album even though Hell Hath No Fury is an amazing album regardless.

Hey Bob. Just wanted to leave some more information on Balloonerism. Mac's engineer from 2013/2014 made a Reddit post about it. Maybe it helps you getting in the mood for the Album. https://www.reddit.com/r/MacMiller/comments/1i41y1r/balloonerism/ Have a great evening, cheers from Berlin!

Joe Shmoe

Hey bob, i would love to see you react to “Kiss The Ring” by Rome Streetz. He is a member of Griselda, He is super lyrical but also kinda funny and has some hilarious one liners.

Ollie Thomas

Anybody know why Bob would start with hhnf and not lord willin? seems baffling to me but hey I’m here for the ride

Odavious Jacobi

Hey Bob the belt is BAPE a popular clothing line at the time first worn by Pharrell and the Clipse

Ethan Easter

You gotta hear balloonerism by mac miller just had its official release on Friday

armaplayrust

New Peggy, do ur thing pops

Jeremy

So glad you finally listened to this classic, hopefully the new Clipse album comes soon and is good as this one. I've actually always like Lord Willin a bit more than this one, but that seems like that's not the standard opinion. Both great albums though

Hmm idk

Bob pls just dont even look at the streaming numbers.. its not worth it. Everytime you say that you shouldnt care about it and than continue to kind of care about it 😅
