Yep, Aldi and Lidl typically only have two lines open tops unless there's a mad rush. The only thing I can think of that might make sense is that this was the lady's first time ever shopping at one of those stores. As to carts/trolleys, my biggest annoyance is when they're taken way the hell down to the other end of the shopping center or even off the property. When I was at Best Buy, I frequently had to return the Costco carts and retrieve OURs from all over the parking lot-- and the lot is HUGE! Even worse, I had to return a Lowe's Hardware one that someone had managed to take off their lot completely. I should have been inside selling computers! Luckily the parking lot for the liquor store is fairly small and most of the time they don't even go farther than the sidewalk outside.

I have seen Big W trolleys at Coles carpark here. To do that, you'd have to go from the top floor of the shopping centre Big W is in and through their attached car park, across a busy road near an intersection, past several buildings and then into the Coles car park
