Not a drama but I used A History of Korea by Michael J. Seth in classes and it's pretty good! In short, you had the three kingdoms (Goguryeo, Silla, Baekje) until the 7th century, then you had Goguryeo (the unification of the three kingdoms) until the 14th century(?) and then the Joseon dynasty (all the way till the 19th century?ish). Otherwise you could watch Moon Embracing the Sun (set in Joseon times). Most kdrama's don't really mind all that much with mixing fantasy and historical accuracy which might get confusing; Moon Embracing the Sun is apparently really accurate!
