Hello again, my beautiful Patrons!

It's a rare and delightful occasion when I get to immerse myself in the world of female superheroes. While Storm has been a frequent muse in my Limbo comics, the opportunity to illustrate SNOWBIRD, my absolute favorite Canadian Goddess, felt like a dream come true. When Simon Exton requested this commission, there was never a moment of hesitation – it was an enthusiastic YES!

Snowbird is a character that embodies a captivating duality. She possesses an ethereal elegance, a grace that's a true pleasure to capture on paper. But beneath that serene exterior lies a raw, untamed power. A primal ferocity that's both thrilling and formidable. It's as if the wild spirits of her animal forms are always simmering within her, ready to erupt. This inherent tension between beauty and savagery is, without a doubt, one of her most compelling aspects.

When I approach Snowbird, three essential elements guide my hand: her otherworldly beauty, her inherent strength, and her undeniable fierceness. My interpretation of Narya always features those distinctive, talon-like hands, a subtle nod to the majestic Great White Owl she so often transforms herself into. It’s a reminder that beneath her delicate appearance lies a heroine of formidable power – one who commands respect and inspires awe.

Simon's vision, inspired by the 'true fires' I depicted in page 04 of my Alpha Flight parody, 'SNOWPLOWED,' called for a deeper exploration of Snowbird's primordial essence. So, I present her in her classic form, and with the radiant, divine flames of her goddess nature surging from beneath her mortal skin. It's a visual representation of her inner power, a glimpse into the raw energy that defines her.

Tomorrow, we return to the realm of male heroes, but today, let's revel in the magnificence of Snowbird, a truly iconic superheroine. Her strength, her beauty, her untamed spirit – she is a force to be celebrated.

My heartfelt gratitude to Simon for this incredible commission. Drawing Narya was an absolute joy, and I sincerely hope you all find as much pleasure in the final piece as I did in creating it.

This is beautiful Patrick! I just finished re-reading the Byrne run of Alpha Flight and it’s just nuts!

Thank you so much, Michael. I'm so happy you like how this piece turned out. I'm always heavily inspired by John Byrne whenever I draw Snowbird. And I know what you mean -- his run on the title is LEGENDARY! It's literally one of the tightest, most beautifully woven comic series I've ever read! I re-read it every year or so, too. And each time, it's as AMAZING as I remembered it. So pleased you got to enjoy it again. Much love to you, my friend. XOXOX 😍😊🤗😘

Beautiful weirdly enough my fave Snowbird moment is the issue where the teams fighting the Hulk only for him to cross the border and Nayra go "Well he's America problem now" and promptly leaves, peak unbothered goddess behaviour. Also this might be the first work of yours I feel safe enough to use as screensaver lol.

Thanks so much, Bundy Ted! So true -- there's nothing about this piece that would prevent you from using her as a screensaver... unlike most of my dudes, which are, well, not always safe for work, shall we say! LOL! As for the Hulk bit, yup -- very Goddess-y of her. But also, I dunno if you knew this about her, at the time of that business, she was mystically bound to Canada and could not leave the Country without, well, withering. So in essence, she couldn't have followed Hulk even if she wanted to. But... DID she want to? THAT is also the question? LMAO!!! 🤣🤣 Goddesses will Goddess, am I right? 🤣😊🤗💖😘
