Howdy! This concerns asking y'all how I should be handling releases in the upcoming months due to DT release. It would mean a lot if you could read this and comment your thoughts / ideas, because I'm a bit unsure what to do.

So, Dawntrail is coming out in 3 months, a lot sooner than I expected. As you may have noticed, my early access mods here on this Patreon normally stay paid for exactly 3 months, then they go free. Because of the inclusion of YAB, I can't exceed that time or I'll be breaking the perms.
We know that when DT launches mods will be down for... a period of time. It's really hard to predict how long, but with the graphics update coming out, I'd estimate it to be at least 2 weeks, maybe up to a month.
With all that, it derails my early access schedule. It means that if I release a mod a month before the DT launch date, a big chunk of the paid early access period will be wasted, since mods just won't work during that time. It just doesn't feel fair from the standpoint of a customer purchasing / subbing for a mod with a promised 3 months early access period, when for at least 2 weeks the mod won't be usable.

So the options that we have here as far as I can think of are:
- Reduce the early access period, so that the mods go free before DT. That would mean that mods released at the beginning of June would have an extremely short EA which... To me personally feels like a waste of money for y'all. Why pay the sub or kofi price, when you can wait less than a month for the mod to go free.
- Not including YAB from May onwards, ONLY UNTIL MODS ARE BACK ON AFTER DT, IT WOULD COME BACK AT THAT POINT AND BE ADDED BACK TO THE MAY RELEASES (April mods will have to have 2 months EA since I've already paid for YAB upscales of them in advance). This would mean that I can have the early access period set to a longer time frame to account for the DT downtime. And then once mods are back up and working again, I would go back and add YAB to these mods and start the 3 months timer on them from that point.
- Keeping it going as is and not worrying about the mod downtime period.

From my own point of view, option 1 & 2 will likely result in a decrease in income. Shorter early access means less people are willing to pay for it. The (temporary) removal of YAB means a big chunk of you who use this body have no reason to sub for these couple of months. So I don't really have strong feelings about either option, since they will pretty much have the same effect on my livelihood. The only thing that slightly sways me more towards second option, is that having my mods go free after less than 2 months just feels bad, especially for more complex mods I spend a lot of time on. It just doesn't feel worth it I guess?

(Sidenote, as for July releases, I'd push them out at the end of that month instead of spreading them out over the duration of it like I normally do. It would be pointless releasing stuff when 1) mods don't work, 2) everyone is busy playing the expansion.)

Alright, here's where I need y'all's opinions. Please let me know your thoughts about these options, or if you have other ideas on how to handle this. I want to do what's right for you guys, since without you I'd never be able to do this full time.

Thank you for reading and I hope to hear from you!

Honestly knowing the new update is coming. I'd say the YAB option. This way you don't lose income and incase any mods that you made need updating due to the graphic update it also gives u time for that. You can also make a sponsor tier. Those whom choose to send what ever you set it at rather it be 15, 20 or higher will get an exclusive outfit when everything is back up for supporting you and it won't be released at all to anyone. Is an other option you have to help income flow keep going.

Dervania

For me, I'm here to support you because i like the work you do. I don't care about exclusivity and don't use YAB. I want to have cool outfits and you do some of the best. So personally, do whatever you're most comfortable with.

Alee

I like that idea in theory, but I also don't want to gatekeep a mod behind a higher paywall with no other way to get it, it just doesn't feel right to me personally QwQ Thank you for the feedback tho, I will take it into account!

Morrigan Biscotti

I propose another option: Message Aleks and explain the situation, asking him if he'd be willing to make an announcement for the YAB warriors that due to DT you've been granted extended permission for vaulting and releases will occur as soon as mods are back up after the udpate.

Vyzo

I'm a yab user so of course I might not be objective on this side of the discourse, but it also doesn't matter if early access is a month or three for me. I pay for the work done and because I want to support you.

Mari

I think option 2 makes sense to me, less stress about both the YAB perms and early access for supporters! But pick whatever lessens the stress for you !

NovaLightVT

Option 2 makes sense, but it might be good to see what Aleks might think about the DT release and YAB! I personally will still be paying since I use Muse+ and really love your work!

Candi Poteet

Yea, I totally agree. I just seen others do that and know some people have issues with no incentive, honestly I'd support ya either way! Your mods are the main mods I use and love em! Your hard shows in everything you do because you can see all the improvements that go into your work.

As a YAB user I'd be 'missing out' on the releases so I'd likely unsub temporarily as you stated. The Early Access being shorter doesn't bother me. I'm subbed for the amazing outfits, not for being special and unique for 3 months.

SomethingWonderful

I tend to use YAB myself, and it's why I came to your mods, but I will stay subscribed no matter what happens because I am trying to support your efforts. And modding might be broken for more than a month. It depends on how much the system has changed in the code and hooking processes that are done. There's a lot of moving parts in the mod world. I think a month is probably being generous.

Alee

Thank you so much!! And yes tbh I do think it will be closer to a month, with EW it took 2 weeks-ish, but DT brings graphical updates, dye channels and other stuff that will take much longer to account for modding wise. That being said, the community and amount of people who work on mods and plugins has increased a lot since then, so who knows, things might go smoothly!

Jeff Churchill

Personally I've subbed to you because I love the effort you put into the mods with all the options and everything it is worth the price and it would feel like I'm stealing from you otherwise. I don't really see the need to change anything but at the same time I don't ever really take early access into consideration for cost at least when it comes to a time limit. To me early access doesnt matter if it is a month or 3 months the value imo is getting it then and now. I feel you hurt the YAB people with option 2 by excluding them thats not really fair to them (even tho I don't use YAB). If I did I think I would feel sad that other people got the cool new outfit but I couldn't wear it yet because "my size isnt in stock" yet.

Alpha and El

I'll keep supporting regardless - you're one of my top 3 favorite creators so it's just a "HBO+" subscription for me. set it and forget it until I stop using mods XD

Sarah Slosson

I use YAB so losing out on that would suck for me in Option 2. That said, I'd probably still sub because I like supporting you.

Lailani Faylinn

I do support the idea of a basic exclusive outfit for whoever stays subbed next to any of the other 3 options because that's what I will be doing <3

askji26

I'd prefer option 1 or 3 personally, I don't mind the shorter EA, would much rather just have your awesome outfits in YAB as that is what I use and how I found your outfits. <3

Jeshika

I sub to you because you're one of my favourite modders, your outfits are always such high quality! I wear your stuff 99% of the time I also use YAB, it's another reason I started using your mods, because you persistently include YAB, but I also use your other mods that don't include YAB I have been a long time fan of yours, so I will continue to sub unless something happens and I can't afford to anymore

Alee

Thank you! Yes I feel you with the last part, that's why I wanted to ask first. I don't want to exclude anyone, but I also gotta consider what would work best for both me & my subscribers.

Andunie_Noldorwen

I'll stay subbed either way, I use alot of what you make and a friend of mine uses yours that are YAB and she's going to stay subbed becuase she feels she has gotten so much out of it. I use Bibo+ medium and so far everything you make has worked on me . You do quality mods and i"ll support you eaither way.

Ginn

I really appreciate yab and nyph upscales I really love your work i dont mind the longer wait for free items personally, I wait for most others that way. :3 whatever you need to do is fine!

André Fischer

Before I write this text translated via google. I only discovered your work 2 months ago and I celebrate it very much and that's why I will continue to let my membership run as it has up to now and for one very simple reason: I like your work and hope for a lot more from you

Kia Katt

Eris
