What. How. Why?

Don't know why or how this happened, but we're in as usual.

A track from Pentatonix X ATEEZ to get ourselves back to 'song' mode after Man of ATEEZ :D

Beautiful a cappella piece with a more than great mix, and to see three of our ATEEZ members alongide Pentatonix was kinda surreal.

Again, fill us in on how this all came about XD

But otherwise, hope you enjoy this one everyone <3

Love.

OHMYGOSH I THOUGHT THIS REACTION VIDEO WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!! (kinda dramatic i know but i've requested for this for so long T_T) Honestly don't know the full story behind the collab. Still! It is sooo cool! Found this Naver article though: https://m.entertain.naver.com/article/076/0003768379 "According to multiple insiders, ATEEZ featured in Pentatonix's new song. This project was made possible at the request of Pentatonix, who had been keeping an eye on ATEEZ's performances, making it even more meaningful."

From what I remember Pentatonix were fans of Ateez and reached out to them for a collab. One of the members, Scott Hoying was especially impressed. https://x.com/scotthoying/status/1428448809844023297 I'm not sure if they specifically asked for those members or if the boys decided which of them would do it. There was a reaction video of Pentatonix reacting to Kpop so depending on what songs they heard of Ateez they may have been impressed with certain members vocals that fit with their own. Just speculating.... Edit to add.. I was curious and did a little google search and found that Ateez isn't their first collab with Kpop. Two of the guys Mitch and Scott, also collabed with f(x) Amber in 2017. It was a song called "Fantasy".

WOW I love Pentatonix they're so cool and talented too :D Blast from the past woah.

It’s been a while since I saw/heard Pentatonix (2016 in Amsterdam, if I’m not mistaken)…

Knowing Ateez, they played the ladder game and the winner got the song 😂 No but seriously, as far as I know, we don’t have the answers to your question except that the request for featuring came from Pentatonix side. I think not many people talk about it because it’s truly a Pentatonix song and it might not be every atiny cup of tea 🤷‍♀️ I personally like it 😊

Stacy Marie

If I had to guess, Pentatonix basically never raps in their songs, so if it had been a ATEEZ song ft Pentatonix, we would have gotten that but since it’s this way they were probably looking for vocals ^_^ And their songs are already so full with the 5 of them, they probably figured 13 voices would have been a lot to take in given the type of music they do vs what ATEEZ does

elvenmagick

Pentatonix actually does have songs with rap in them, several members can actually rap, and they have featured rappers before.

As I know Pentatonix side request to collaborate with Ateez. I'm not sure whole story https://www.allkpop.com/article/2021/08/ateez-to-collaborate-with-pentatonix-for-new-single-a-little-space .

Kacey Miller

Maybe it was more whose voices could fit the notes needed? This was my first time seeing or hearing Ateez, because I’m a longstanding Pentaholic and I was purely in my girl group kpop bag.

Scott Hoying is a huge fan of KPop. He even surprised his husband with a Black Pink dance medley at their wedding reception lol He was the one to reach out to Ateez for this collab.

So, some context is that this collab got arranged pretty soon after Ateez released this lovely cover of Leave the Door Open: https://youtu.be/ensUzYUFnno?si=BM-nH1YKwEgcXIi1 If you listen to the cover and see who is highlighted and sort of know the group dynamics of the time where Jongho, San and Yunho were considered "the Vocal line" the people participating do make sense. Everyone's vocals are so strong now that it would be ludicrous to claim some people aren't vocal line but at the time it made some sense.

Ooooh the amount of ateez cover songs (group and SOLOS) that d'some and han-c must check though......... I hope they can react to them in some point in time.

EvilAngel23

I’ve loved this song for so long. Glad you guys got to experience it

Wooya Staytiny

I had a thought maybe because the song is mostly English at that time those three maybe were the most confident to sing in English but idk

Good timing of the reaction, you can tell by their hair that it was done around the same time as The Man of ATEEZ
