Musicians react & analyze ♡ NMIXX - Young, Dumb, Stupid

NMIXX AT IT AGAIN :D Here's us after realizing how much more fun it is to visit earlier NMIXX tracks with O.O and Tank, now reacting to 'Young, Dumb, Stupid'! This one was particularly fun to talk about since it implemented a well known nursery rhyme, Frère Jacques, without making it stick out like a sore thumb. Or at least for us, it worked just fine and we loved it. This was also the most 'popular' sounding track from NMIXX thus far, without the usual NMIXX change up (of course, there were some crazy stuff in the middle regardless, just not as much as the other ones), but had one of the coolest bridge sections we've heard in recent times. All in all, another great piece with lots to discuss. :) Let us know what else we should react to from NMIXX, and what you thought about 'Young, Dumb, Stupid'. And if you want more NMIXX contents, or perhaps more SKZ contents cuz you're also a STAY, then head over to our patreon page at http://patreon.com/handsomesausages ! :D We've got TONS of fun stuff for you to check out! Ooooo. Yes. This is probably the song i heard most when i first listened to them. Lol not Han-C calling himself old, dumb and stupid. I didn't actually know that this had a music video. I just listened to this song a lot. That song and then password came on a lot. Oh, it's a very cute young fresh vibe to the video. The beat is definitely the nursery rhyme. And that hand movement that they do for ding ding dong. I can't do that. Yeah no this song is so crazy catchy. The prechorus is super cute. I love the outfits in this video. Oh I love the ending of this video. It's very cute! Yes it is that nursery rhyme. Pairing mode. That's funny. I never knew that nursery rhyme in English. I only ever heard the French version. I didn't know how to say it properly. I didn't know what it meant, but that's the only way I knew it. What would you suggest that they have used instead of ding ding dong? Or do you mean like put lyrics like they did in the outro? I immediately love this song when I first heard it because I recognized the melody from a nursery rhyme.

Yep! It’s Frère Jacques (Brother John, are you sleeping in English, but the OG is French). It makes that whole bit super catchy. And I love the way the rest of the song ties into it and the whole playground youth theme of being… well… young, dumb, and stupid. It sounds like the sort of song we would sing while jumping rope in primary school. It didn’t feel like it reduced the song at all, it was their own take.

ooo, i really like this song!! this song's stage practice is iconic where the girls sing the song live while doing the choreo, I would definitely recommend checking it out as well :)) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDOVARrOudw&ab_channel=NMIXX and this is one of the songs that really made people reconsider the success of nmixx, people were a bit nicer to them with YDS and love me like this. They were a bit more open to listen to NMIXX I believe

Sometimes the more bright poppy songs aren't my favorite but I really loved this one! It's so fun and catchy..I know some people questioned having the nursery rhyme in it but I think it was so unique! Definitely recommend watching the stage dance practice!

ohh i was super curious on your take on this! definitely another one of their quite polarizing songs to me the first few listens were quite shocking for me because hearing this very nostalgic and familiar nursery rhyme melody in a modern take + in english lyrics, instead of german or french like i’m used too + in a kpop song was just something i could not wrap my head around for quite some time. now it's quite odd, after getting over the initial surprise, it's definitly a good song, i think the concept is executed well BUT while listening to the song now i felt a bit of subconscious resistance of enjoying the song 100%. and a theory just hit me when d-some mentioned the word "catchy": for me frere jaques is prob THE most memorable nursery rhyme from childhood, singing it tons of times throughout kindergarden and elementary school and i have very special memories tied to singing it together back then. so i think maybe because it's so catchy there's a subconscious fear of losing that nostalgic association and emotinal tie to the melody? ig it's a mix memory preservence, cultural and emotional ties for me🤷‍♀️ that's why i think this was definitely a very daring song! and psychology is an interesting thing LOL i haven't seen anyone mention this so far, so i wonder if this is a bit more of a unique expirience or if more ppl feel similarly. i could imagine that ppl that also had a bit of that subconscious "off"-feeling just labeling the song as cringe instead of thinking more about it. i haven't seen any other kpop songs use a nursery rhyme sample like this. there've been references, "smaller" samples here and their e.g. in baby monster's woke up in tokyo they used the alphabet song, but never this much or in the chorus
