Musicians react & review ♡ J-Hope - Arson (MV)

THIS SONG IS LITERALLY FIRE. And we thought 'More' is crazy good. Following up from J-Hope's More, as well as Agust D and Jungkook's solo pieces are ARSON, a short but very impactful solo song from J-hope and another banger from this incredible album, Jack in the box! As we've said before, to us, J-Hope was always the vibrant, happy, positive, and enthusiastic one out of the BTS members we've seen - now we know he had his moments and see where his energy and creativity stems from, to be able to create such versatile sounds. But still, incredibly surprised in the best way possible! Cannot wait for more, and to get to other members' single tracks! :D Like we say, we are aware V has his solo songs out as well and we're definitely reacting to it so stay tuned for that. I have been waiting for this one!! Jack in the Box is one of my favorite albums of all time! Thank you!

Arson is a metaphor. Jhope (and BTS) are arsonists who through their hard work and determination, lit fire to everything in their career path - burning up charts, burned the haters, blazed a path for their success, etc. The question he is asking here is whether he should stop now or burn even brighter. But the answer to the question was already answered in More when he said he is not done working yet.

Yep, I'm Liberty

It's funny that you mention about J-Hope's struggles vs his outer persona. I don't follow BTS, so I don't hear a lot about the guys in general, but I knew about Suga's struggles with depression, anxiety, etc so when he comes out with his music, it makes "sense" so to speak because it matches him. With J-Hope on the other hand, I never heard these things about him, so I guess that's why it was such a shock to me that he went so "dark" this time around. I knew that he liked to experiment with his music - much more so than the other members - so I really didn't know what to expect; but I guess now he's really feeling himself enough to honestly speak his truths.

I got chills all over again lol.....I heard More first, and that made me go "oh, who is this?" then I heard Arson, and that made me go "I am now invested in everything about who this man is" and then I heard "Hopeworld" and "Jack in the Box"....then that led me to suga, then I saw i-land and saw that they were in a group together and then I dove back into their solos and am only now getting into the group as a whole, but ARMY has been helping me so I have been picking up fast. Have you heard both albums? If so I hope you check out hobi's lollapalooza if not, I hope you see it after getting to know him more. I literally cried seeing that the Hope Edition that was released a couple days ago had 3 live from Lolla performances, as well as the instrumentals for More and Arson. From THIS album I'd love to see your reactions to The Intro with Pandoras Box, Stop, and What if the most! Don't even get me started on HopeWorld. yeee loved this! ♡

Love this! I recommend checking out j-hope's performance at the 2022 MAMAs, too - he did Arson on stage and it was absolutely incredible. The commentary about the impact of his struggles on his music also makes me even more eager for whenever you guys get to AgustD's Amygdala - at this point I feel like I could write a small essay about the BTS members' current solo projects and how they represent them personally! (And also, if you're looking for another song from Jack in the Box to react to, I suggest =(equal sign) as a personal favourite!)

I second doing =(equal sign)! Thank you so much for checking out Arson, this whole album feels so much like Hobi getting to be himself and it’s amazing 💜

I definitely think you should check out some of J-hopes older stuff from Hopeworld like daydream, airplane, 항상. But I also am dying for you to check out RM’s most recent solo work from indigo especially Wildflower, change pt 2, and lonely are definitely my favorites from that album. I can’t wait for you guys to check out amygdala as well as Jungkook’s Seven I think you should check out the clean version and then immediately check out the explicit version if you haven’t already recorded a reaction to that yet

I particularly enjoy the visual of walking into the fire and coming out in the aftermath, not the “other side” but where everything is still destroyed. This song has great themes about choice.

there was a point in time early on where he only performed in a mask because there were petitions to have him removed from BTS for being "too ugly" I noticed he had a pretty dark persona during that time. I'm still learning more about them myself but I honestly couldn't imagine anyone thinking hobi is ugly. That was another reason his animal character MANG wore a mask, and it was just before he went into the military that the animated character and hobi chatted and MANG removed his mask revealing he was a squirrel the whole time. I cried so damn hard. I'm new to BTS so hopefully I didn't mess any of this up.
