Hello everyone!

Hope everything is going good with y'all :)

We just wanted to deviate slightly from music today and quickly ask about your FAVOURITE K-series or K-movies, and what you're looking forward to if any!

Rather than having options (for obvious reasons), feel free to comment below telling us your favourite, as well as your most anticipated work (that's preferably coming out soon)!

Much Love As Always :D <3

Jitse Wellekens

My absolute favorite k-dramas are: Itaewon Class, Crash Landing on You, Mr. Sunshine, & Reply 1988. Because I'm back in school I haven't really had time for anything new.

Dachi

Dr romantic. 3 seasons to binge watch 👍

Eva Minster

I have many favourites, but so far my top ones are Flower of Evil and Signal

ShawnyJ

Oh god. How much time do you have? My very favourites are Vincenzo, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, It's Okay to Not Be Okay, The Good Bad Mother, Reborn Rich, Mr. Queen and Alchemy of Souls. I'm watching Sweet Home right now which is a fun but bloody monster show. It's only 10 episodes so if you thought you were going to start doing drama reactions, something shorter might be a good idea while you figure out the flow.

Gaby Fukumura

Reborn Rich. I know you wanted to take a break from music, but the OST for this one is sung by Jongho of ATEEZ and is amazing too.

SaarCookie

I think my favourites so far are Hotel Del Luna (I like it when it’s still dramatic and romantic but has a deeper meaning to the story) and Romance is a Bonus Book (mostly because that’s the first one I saw). I also really loved King the Land (damn 2PM’s Junho is dreamy…). Currently I am watching Doom at your service which similarly to Hotel Del Luna is quite an interesting story. I have many on my to watch list but one that’s currently being released is Destined with you with Rowoon from SF9, I’m waiting for all the episodes to be out so I can binge watch it if I want to haha. I’ve also heard good things about a Time called You so that might be next in line after Destined with you.

Kelly

Right now I’m watching “Uncanny Counters”and “Bad and Crazy” both are ridiculously good! I’m real looking forward to The Devil’s Plan next month!

Selande

I'm blanking out and don't remember anything right now but definitely It's Okay Not To Be Okay and Goblin, two of my favourites without a doubt. Adding My Name too. Yup :)

Maren

All of Us are Dead was good. I just finished Imitation and really enjoyed it (Jongho, Yunho, Seonghwa and San from Ateez play characters in this one). But there are so many others 🤯

Omgosh how much time do you have to read this lol. I've watched well over 100 dramas and have so many faves. I'll try to narrow it down 😬. DRAMAS: *Boys Over Flowers (1st drama I watched so it holds a special place in my heart 😌) *Legend of the Blue Sea *King Eternal Monarch *Doom at your Service *Tale of the Nine-tailed 1 & 2 *Business Proposal *Bad & Crazy *Vincenzo *Goblin aka Guardian: The lonely and great god *Strangers from Hell *The Smile has left Your Eyes *It's OK to not be OK *Itaewon Class *Alchemy of Souls 1 & 2 *A Korean Odyssey *The Heirs *The Great Doctor aka Faith *Ghost Doctor *W *Hotel del Luna *The Glory *Flower of Evil *Money Heist: Korea And many more... MOVIES: *Project Wolf Hunting *The Beauty Inside *The Witch: Subversion *Unlocked ANTICIPATING: Joohoney (my bias) from MONSTA X was supposed to have a movie with Rebel Wilson coming out called "Lost In America" but now that he's in the Army idk if they've postponed it, canceled it or already filmed it and are still releasing it. I'm hoping it's done and still getting released 🙏. Looking forward to anything with my 3 favorite actors, Seo In Guk (Death's Game -Dec 2023), Lee Min Ho (Ask the Stars -2023) or Lee Dong Wook (The Killer's Shopping Mall -2024)

We asked because we've seen most shows already AND their original material when applicable :') fortunately we see one or two we haven't seen on your list already! :D

A list of recommendations, in no particular order: - Beyond Evil. Inarguably my favourite k-drama ever, it's centered on two detectives - one a new hotshot, one older and jaded, played by Yeo Jingoo and Shin Hakyun respectively - seeking to solve the deaths of women connected over a 20-year period in a small town called Manyang. The premise is recognisable to anyone who has ever watched a crime drama; the execution, however, is a masterclass in trope subversion. This show upends genre conventions for the express purpose of critiquing them in a way I've never seen done before while exploring disability, social bias, misogyny and mental illness, and at the same time proving a sharp critique of Korean law. Shin Hakyun knocks his performance out of the fucking park, the soundtrack is incredible, and it's also very loosely inspired by real events (as in, it's inspired by a different fictional retelling of a real criminal case). A masterclass! - Weak Hero Class 1. This show is only six episodes, but it packs a lot into them. The protagonist is Yeon Sieun, a smart boy beset by school bullies and neglected by the adults in his life. Having tried to endure in silence, he finally snaps and retaliates with violence. This brings him into an unlikely alliance with two other boys, and over two discreet three episode arcs, we see the consequences of this retaliation escalate beyond what any of them know how to deal with. The last two episodes of his show had me weeping solidly as I watched. It's a story about the indifference of violence and the violence of indifference, and Park Jihoon is phenomenal as Sieun. There's going to be a second season and it's going to destroy me. I can't wait. - All Of Us Are Dead. I haven't finished watching this yet, in part because it's so emotionally heavy, but as others have mentioned it above, I'll second the recommendation. On the surface, this is a drama about a zombie outbreak that starts at a highschool; beneath that, like Kingdom and Train to Busan, it's about class and social divisions, but with the added angles of school bullying, teenage romance and powerlessness within an adult system. It is also, in narrative terms, one of the cruelest zombie properties I've ever seen: the characters get put through the wringer, and while it's done plausibly, it's also a Lot to watch. - Kingdom. Set in the Joseon era, the narrative details a zombie outbreak set against a backdrop of royal succession politics. Like Train to Busan, it uses zombies as a way to discuss class hierarchies and social divisions, but within a historical setting rather than the modern day; and as such, it also explores the specific horror of how the steps necessary to kill zombies (beheading, fire) play out within a Confucian context. Bae Doona is incredible as the female lead, and in addition to two full seasons, there's also a spin-off movie. - Hellbound. A six-episode theological thought experiment conducted through a horror lens. Suddenly, a ghostly apparition starts appearing to people: it first declares that a given person is going to hell at an appointed time, and when that time comes, monstrous figures appear and reduce that person to ash. Hellbound tracks the hysteria that follows as humans interpret these occurrences through a religious lens. Like Weak Hero Class 1, there's two distinct three-episode arcs that pack in a lot, the first showing when the events start, and the second some time later, once the world has adapted. It's a powerful look at cult formation: the underpinnings of dogma and doctrine, the horrors of mob justice (especially in the social media age), and how quickly state-endorsed religious control becomes socially policed. I don't know if it's getting a second season (although room is clearly left for one), but even if it doesn't, it still works as an incredibly satisfying mini-show. I also watched and enjoyed both seasons of Alchemy of Souls and The Glory, but I've already rambled on a lot, so I'll leave this here!

Haly LeFlore

If you are looking for something newer, I've just started My Lovely Liar on Viki. It has 14 episodes out already and I think the final two are due to come out very soon. I am very early on, but it seems pretty good and I have seen good clips of it on TikTok so I have high hopes.

Sangyu Chi

My Favoiries include some older kdramas like City Hunter You're Beautiful I hear Your Voice Kangchi While You Were Sleeping Doctor Stranger He Is Pychometric Mr Queen (I'm a big Lee Jong-suk fan) To more recent K-dramas Numbers Reborn Rich

Sam w

I'm ve4y much anticipating Bump Up Business, an upcoming kdrama starring OnlyOneOf! It's coming out in October, I think. Favorites are probably Goblin or boys over flowers. Cdramas I'd say The Untamed and ten thousand miles of peach blossoms

Taylor M

Oh boy, echoing a lot of others with the Weak Hero Class 1 or Flower of Evil as contemporary favorites, as well as Kingdom for a historical drama. Then, for movies, an oldie but a goodie (gah is a 2010 film *really* old at this point?) is The Man from Nowhere. For upcoming dramas, I cannot wait for The Worst of Evil with Ji Chang Wook and Wi Ha Joon. A Song of the Bandits with Kim Nam Gil looks good too!

Mel A

1. Mad Dog (only on Viki) 2. The rest, in no order cuz it’s hard, and all on Netflix: Itaewon Class Alice in Borderland (Japanese) Sweet Home My Country I see someone else mentioned The Untamed, and I was OBSESSED with it for a long time. 50, count ‘em, 50 episodes, tho…. For anyone who decides to watch, Netflix for sure has the best English subtitles.

Mocha_frap

Signal! It's one of my all time favorites. Time travel mystery. Thirty nine is stunningly good

asja cambiganu

My favourite kdrama at the moment is The Glory

Sinbad

I liked The Glory and Mask Girl for more recent ones. I'd also think it would be fun for you to check out Imitation so you can see another side to some of the Ateez boys.

Mel A

I had some issues with King Eternal Monarch but have watched it more than once justfor Woo Do Hwan’s perfornance(s)! He is in two of my main picks.

Brit Bratt

Love Alarm (Netflix). Link:Eat,Love,Kill (Hulu) Hometown Cha Cha Cha (Seungmin does OST) (Netflix)

Wooya Staytiny

Goblin and the eighth sense are my all time favourites but I also recommend in no particular order: Tale of the nine tailed fox Sweet home What’s wrong with secretary Kim Business proposal The k2 Semantic error

rlm66

I liked My Name (kind of gory) and Mouse- a suspense thriller with twists, super good

Trialz315

Ugh, so many to choose from! The Devil Judge, Island, Move to Heaven, Goblin, Bad and Crazy, The Guest, Uncanny Counters, Semantic Error…. The list goes on. Currently watching Reborn Rich and Moving. Seeing as your going through Ateez discography, may I recommend the OST for Reborn Rich - Gravity by Jongho because damn it’s a good song. Also if your looking for a Kdrama, check out Imitation. Half of Ateez act in it with Yunho being 2nd lead. If he wasn’t apart of Ateez, Yunho would definitely act. 🖤

chi

Just finished watching Uncanny counter, and currently watching Moving. I really love it so far.

Trixie GoodSleeper

Well I dont like sausages, but I love handsome sausages 🤩.. My favorite drama so far is Mr. Queen, so funny. Uncannny counters is great, its more action 🙂. Iteawon class, Military prosecutor Doberman....these drama arent so romantic one😃

lillie450

I love It's Okay to not be Okay, My Name, and The Glory

Inge Sahuleka

Alchemy of Souls, Kingdom, Hotel del Luna, and completely different is Korea No. 1. It’s fun to watch and learn about traditional ways of making tiles, food, drink, laquer…

Lourenna Riske

I really love action dramas. Some of the best in my opinion are My Name, Weak Hero Class 1 and Revenge of other. Also a really good action drama that cane out recently is Bloodhounds. I think most of these I watched in one day!! They were so good!!!

Savannah

hopefully this counts but i've been super obsessed with 'street woman fighter 2' which is currently airing. i feel as though you've possibly heard of it but if not it's like a korean dance crew competition show. though this season they have 2 non-korean teams. it's so much fun and the quality of the dances/performances we've been shown so far have been exceptionally high in my opinion!

Nikole

Okay, so I have a list of over 100, but since you guys have already noted that you've seen a lot of stuff and even things some shows were based on or adapted from, I'll skip a bunch... **Stand-Outs** The K2 -- action with a side of romance; Ji Chang Wook SKY Castle -- dark, education stress/pressure, teen suicide, etc. The Silent Sea -- dystopian, some thriller elements It's Okay to Not Be Okay -- very raw/real and excellently done Thirty-Nine -- nearly killed me, so emotional Cafe Minamdang -- Seo In-guk fully embraces this role, it's awesome Imitation -- I mean, half of ATEEZ is in it & it birthed a meme... so... navillera -- absolutely beautiful story Move to Heaven Healer -- I don't have a Ji Chang Wook problem, I swear Goblin/Guardian: Great & Lonely God My ID is Gangnam Beauty True Beauty My Name Touch Your Heart -- I do, however, have an Lee Dong Wook problem **Really Enjoyed** Mystic Pop-up Bar Hotel del Luna Abyss The Crowned Clown The Uncanny Counter (haven't watched s2 yet) Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha Run On Under the Queen's Umbrella What's Wrong with Secretary Kim Meow, the Secret Boy -- this was better than I expected it to be Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung Alchemy of Souls (haven't watched past s1 yet) I've actually got quite a few "in progress" at the moment, and one that I'm working too slowly through but seems really good is Kill Me Heal Me. My Lovely Liar is also good so far (I'm behind compared to what's already been aired; I keep getting distracted by reactions and, well, life). I really need to start back into Tale of the Nine-Tailed also, because I didn't finish it the first time I started and Lee Dong Wook just doesn't deserve to be dropped like that.

Drava

Came to recommend 'W' since others have already named ones I would've recommended. I see that someone else has it listed too :)

Mel

I would recommend...Vincenzo, Uncanny Counter, Bad and Crazy, and Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. I'd recommend romances but I'm not sure they would work as well to react to. Uncanny Counter has a great mix of storyline, action and lighthearted moments.

mysterious_ky

Uncanny encounter is sooo good and I’m lowkey excited for the one onlyoneof is staring in. completely forget the name of it tho lmao edit: looked it up. bump up business!

mthr.of.gryhnds

Doom At Your Service, Tale of the Nine-Tailed, IMITATION [ATEEZ IS IN IT], Hwarang, Melting Me Softly, While You Were Sleeping, When the Camellia Blooms, K2, Hometown Cha Cha Cha, King: Eternal Monarch.... >_> there's too many... OHOH and one that Jongho [ATEEZ] did the intro for "A Fairy Tale of Youth"!!

Estelle S

What's Wrong with Secretary Kim - watched it 1x and then turned around and watched it all again. And not just watched - I mean binged watched. :) Goblin, the Great and Lonely God is also a good one. Both are hilarious but also touch on deep subjects.

Jackie G

Kdramas: The Glory......SO good. I also really like Hometown Cha Cha Cha (not because Seungmin has an OST in it or anything). Next up for me is Love In Contract (again not because Seunmin has an OST in it lol)
