I'd never back this on Kickstarter...
Here it is—an awful, buggy mess of an "RPG", made in 5 or so days. Most of those 5 days were deciding what to do, what would work and double-checking someone couldn't break things I didn't want broken. There's still bugs in there, so let me know if you find any!
This will not be the final game, especially the design of the woman and her attitude / dialogue. I have a concept in mind for the story, the expansion and reasons why expansion is required, and it will feature mechanics featured here, such as retrieving objects, but I hope to make it more in-depth than just fetching spoopy things lol. In particular, I was bored of her pose moments after putting it into place, so that will definitely change.
After some thought, I decided to prioritise keyboard controls (or gamepad with keyboard keys mapped to it) for gameplay. Trying to incorporate some kind of control system for mobile would likely cover half the screen, and most mobile users watch video anyway, so I decided to focus on desktop. That said, if you can hookup a controller to your phone and map keys to it...do it! Don't ask me how to do it though, I've no idea if that's possible...
For now, this is all there is. The next time I return to this RPG thing (after I've finished Bess' animated runner-up), I'll begin work on an improved form of this base concept. The final game likely won't be too long (I don't think HTML5 could handle anything too big) but we'll see how things go. So far, being able to make this much in just a few days feels quite promising. Let me know what you think!
