A because it let's the picture have some negative space, that also sort of frames the two characters.

I love the way the hair in B fills the space and draws your eye toward the action. The braid also allows for more equal negative space for the two characters.

i like the short hair better, it looks more dynamic and light, while the braid version make the picture looks kinda heavy/overfill ??
