If you are aware of anything about me you know I am a great lover of theatre/opera.  Absolutely nothing hits like Gilbert and Sullivan's 1880s master class in song and melody, THE MIKADO.  It's a screwball comedy punching up at snobs in then-England; however, William Gilbert was the world's first prominent weeb, and set his play in Edo Japan.  He might as well have set it on Mars for all he knew (for example, the character in my drawing is named Yum-Yum; I didn't make that up).  Since performing in what amounts to yellowface is not OK (and should never have been OK), putting on this beautifully-scored show takes sensitivity, planning and creativity.
