Twilight pulled the convertible coupe into the driveway and parked it. Grabbing the the gym bag with her dirty gym clothes and racquet in it from the passenger seat she opened the door and exited the vehicle. Pausing to spread her wings in a slow stretching exercise.

When Rainbow Dash had suggested to her that she join the gym Twilight had been dubious. She'd never been very athletic in school and she'd never competed in any sport teams. However RD had insisted that it would be good for her health. That she'd be encouraging other ponies to exercise more, and finally she'd be supporting a local business.

So as much as to make RD happy Twilight had joined the gym, and much to her surprise she enjoyed it. Much more than she'd expected. Dash argued that it was due to the pegasus side of her alicorn form since pegasus ponies were an athletic bunch how enjoyed competition.

Especially racquetball. Much to everypony's surprise the Princess Friendship soon became a terror on the courts where she took no prisoners and crushed her competition. All in the name of friendship and camaraderie of course.

      But still crushing them.

As she passed the hood of the convertible she stopped and took a moment to brush a bit leave that had become stuck to the hood ornament. The ornament was of a pegasus mare in flight. She planned to have the car detailed this week, but she wanted it to looks its best right now.

With that little task accomplished she headed up to the house. Rarity was hosting an afternoon lunch party, so the alicorn made sure to wear the latest outfit her friend made for her.  Also she wanted to show the fashionista her new racquet.

This is a patron reward for Sylvan Ryan. It was rather fun giving this piece a rather 1930s, Art Deco look and feel. I wanted it to look like one of those Hollywood celebrity photos from the period.

Love the outfit! And the hood ornament is a lovely rendition of the original.

Always been a fan of art deco. Looks real nice in your art too.

Nice.

That's what I aim to do very often with my work. Create that feeling that this is not made up, but instead just a recording of a moment in time.

You did a great job capturing the period, right down to the not-quite-relaxed pose that matches the Hollywood glamour photos of the day. What vehicle did you use as a reference?

BaronEngel

It's not any specific vehicle but it is heavily influenced by both the 1936 Auburn Speedster and the 1937 Cord Coupe.
