Code Geass is one of these staple anime you at least have to give a try at some point. Looking forward to rewatch this series here and see your reactions to it. It's been forever since I've watched it, I wonder how it will hold up. And I actually prefer that you picked the sub here as well 🙏🏻As for voices you know, Lelouch was voiced by the same man as Finral and Hanamiya from Kuroko no Basket(the baka guy who loved hurting others) and it's fitting since both are smart characters. Shirley the girl who called Lelouch got the same voice as Satsuki from Kuroko as well and Riza Hawkeye from FMAB, that's the only ones I instantly recognized from the anime you have seen.

As many have said, this is one of the few anime that is better in dub (for english speaking audiences) because of the Eurocentric characters and names. It really plays into the royalty parts and the English VA's did a great job emulating the same type of flair and drama of the Japanese VA's. Also want to add: there is also a lot of complicated battle information that is quickly thrown at you that can be almost overwhelming sometimes in sub. Having seen it both ways and originally in sub first, hope you give the dub a try.

And yes this is another anime that should be watched in dub due to the nature of names and just as ron stated but we all know Japanese patreon subscribers get first dibs on anything they watch 😂🤣 and I can already tell that the way this show gives information so fast they will not understand allot of plot points but w.e. 😫

I predict we will soon be having a sub vs dub poll? I predict the sub will win and the dub supporters will rage again like in all the other reaction channels. Personally I prefer sub for the original language but I heard of instances where sub might be harder to focus and follow due to lengthy dialogues. Therefore, I recommend watching episode 1 in both sub and dub just to get a feel of which one you prefer.

One of my favorite openings, this op is goated. Fun fact this opening is done by FLOW which also did OG Naruto op 4 'Fighting Dreamers' and they did Shippuden op 6 'Sign'. Yeah Ron you pronounced Code Geass right, and this anime came out in 2006. Also I don't know any of the VA's since I watched this in dub lol which is great btw. A lot of noticeable dub VA's. All I think about is other characters when I hear Lelouche, Suzaku etc lol. Excited for this journey with you guys

I'd get your point if the dub characters sounded different and the royalty had like British accents maybe. It just sounds like typical anime dub to me. Besides a lot of the story has to do with Japan too so sub fits very well. The sub also does a good job at distinguishing who's royalty and I also really like how elegant lelouch sounds in sub too

I haven't seen that many people tell them to do this in dub, only I only seen a few. Unless I missed many people who said so but I think even if several people would have said so they probably still would have went with sub. Already recorded it plus they watch everything in sub anyways. I do agree with your comment though, would've been cool if they watched this dub

Guys, this show used to be one of my favorites ever since 2018-2019 when I was 20-30 animes deep. Currently my favorite anime of all time is steins;gate which I’m hoping we’ll get soon. but listening to that opening again is so so nostalgic. Many could probably relate to me that opening is on the Mount Rushmore of anime ops. The nostalgia could make me tear up 😭😭.

I get people's frustrations for the dub and I do agree as a dub lover but y'all they watch everything in sub its their preference which I'm fine with and yes I know there are great dubs that are worth watching but they watch sub. If FMAB didn't get the dub you know it wasn't gonna happen here. The only show that really has a chance of dub is dbz. Also cyperpunk was dub since its an American concept plus an overwhelming amount of people recommended them to do dub and there was no poll, they just went with dub so that was a rarity. Only thing I can say if these comments cause some persuasion, then maybe they can watch the next episode of Code geass dub, see which one they like better and continue with what they pick. A poll is pointless, sub will always win which was why I mentioned there was no poll with cyberpunk.

code geass is a big blend of many genres. politics, military, mecha names and vocabulary, fast paced dialogue, subtle reveals, morality. With so many aspects, there's many things to keep track on and many areas for watchers to be critical of. People are very judgemental, especially so with an anonymous account to hide behind. Hopefully this community isn't too harsh. They are reacting to so many shows at the same time. Sometimes I wish they reduce the shows and upload more for each show instead.

Ron, you read that right. Geass is read Ghee-Us. Lelouch is similar to Light and 86 is similar to Code Geass. Lelouch VA also voices Black Clover's Finral and Tensura Slime's Demon Lord Leon. You will hear the same VA in Food Wars in the coming season soon too. Suzaku(Lelouch childhood friend) VA also voices Demon Slayer's Giyu, Naruto's Sasori, Mob Psycho's Arataka and Tensura Slime's Diablo.

Lelouch gets compared to Light a lot for certain reasons, but there are huge differences too which become clear as the show progresses. The show itself gets compared to Death Note as well as both aired at the same time around 2006 with a MC who is insanely smart and questionable actions in terms of moral compass I suppose. Also, Lelouch is considered to be on of the best written main characters, and is the most popular MC on MyAnimeList out of every anime. And just fyi, Lelouch is pronounced Li-loosh", even tho many first tend to pronounce the -louch as in "ouch" when you get hurt

There are many anime I get disappointed when someone watches subbed, but this isn't one of them. There's some great performances in the dub, but I personally find most of the female voices shrill or annoying 💀 the sub doesn't have that

Personally I think the dub is worth watching. There aren’t that many shows that people are super adamant about watching in dub. But when they are I think the dubs are worth checking out(even if polling numbers are majority sub).

Dub comments are always so weird to see on shows they dont belong on, it's better in sub and has much more emotion with higher quality voice acting. You can do a compare by compare of the first few episodes and tell the difference EASILY. I tried to watch Letts React, react to this and it was just unbearable with the eng dub, had to drop their react after ep6. And that was right after i loved watching their death note react that they did in dub ofc.

Personally I much prefer CG in dub. One of the few I will always recommend amongst Death Note, FMA:B, etc. Specifically, Johnny Young Bosch as Lelouch is amazing. Wouldn’t even remotely consider it “unbearable”, lacking in “emotion” or “low quality”. And considering people will make these same exact general “criticisms” you made about literally ANY dub, even the famously great ones, they don’t hold much weight in my eyes. Maybe it’s a you/personal problem. Regardless these dub vs sub comments/discussions are always weird/annoying. Dub enjoyers coping and begging, sub-elitists disrespecting and downplaying English VA talent. I just wanna enjoy and see people talk about the show 😭.

I feel bad for you dub enjoyers, it's clear they will never choose dub, but they always talk like "maybe *this* time" to keep the hope alive for some reason. Just watch it or don't watch it, it isn't worth your time or energy trying to convince them to do something they aren't even remotely considering in reality. You have a shot for stuff like Cyberpunk since it isn't Japanese IP to begin with, so you can expect that stuff like Castlevania will be in English if they ever watch that, but you will NEVER see traditional anime dubbed in English on this channel so you've just gotta accept it and stop getting engagement baited.

To help you stay on the map with only information given so far, Lelouch is Britannian and going to school with other Britannians in a school located in Area 11 of Britannia (former Japan). However, Lelouch unlike other Britannians, hates and resists Britannia. His childhood friend who got shot, Suzaku, was Japanese but became an honorary Britannain, basically a Japanese who fights on Britannia's side. And Ron asked how much Britannia had conquered, they showed a map of the world where it showed Britannia pretty much ruled the West, so Europe, America and now is expaning to the east by capturing Japan. China and other Asian countries are not under Britannia.

Do you think code geass had a better ending then that other anime with the similar ending? It’s a anime that ended in the recent past 5 years you should know what anime I’m referring to if u seen it. just check out 'the speech' in ep6 in dub and then in sub, i believe anyone can see the difference in VA quality. lelouch may be va'd well, but as fubiki mentioned, other chars are not up to par. it is ofc an opinion but im american with native english, so one would think i wouldn't be THAT biased. i've enjoyed inuyasha/DBZ/samurai champloo/FMA:B/death note, all in dub.
