Dear One Piece Fans... (Patreon)

This title sounds way more dramatic than this post really is LOL
I dont want to spend a ton of time or energy on this, but obviously there was a lot of conversations happening in our recent post that I would like to address...

1. We have heard you loud and clear regarding upload time. We will be uploading OP reactions by 9 pm CT from now on. There is no way to tell you exactly what time it will be uploaded but we can at least let you know you wont be receiving them after 9pm Central Time. (and if so, we will inform you).

2. This most recent upload not being a triple drop is simply because we have a list of what episodes to watch together, made by our mods. This was not listed as a triple drop. We will continue to follow that. Next week there will be a quad drop (275-278). 

Aside from this, I think it is totally fine to express suggestions and thoughts around feedback. That is healthy and needed for us to know of ways we can improve. But it really is sad to see how negative and aggressive some of you are being in the comments. Regardless of how strongly you feel because you are spending money, we need to treat each other better. Michelle and I. Sushi Squad. Everyone. This community is built around anime and the joy it brings all of us. The Journey we all experience and go on together. We should be not insulting and arguing with each other. If you truly have a suggestion as a way we can improve, act like an adult and DM me. I read all DMs.

 Arguing with other members in the comments is not going to solve anything. We always take things into consideration. Always have and always will. Bc we are grateful and value all of you being here. But please, can we take a step back and prioritize being nice human beings and treating each other with respect above all else??? CMON SUSHI SQUAD!!

At the end of the day we are all humans. I think the big thing is just communication when things fall through/don’t go as planned and if there is an intent to make up for lost days etc. Personally its not a big deal to me but having updates on any issues or delays would definitely help the most.

And we communicated we were taking Thanksgiving off, that just unfortunately happened to impact OP. Pure chance though. We never over promise, and provide what we say.

currently when you sign up, at the top of our schedule it says in bold "end of day" which means our promise to you is by midnight. Which 98% of the time we provide. Again, we are changing that bc we want to please as many as we can, but the narrative that we are late or delayed is a bit unfair imo.

I think most people were upset that there was no upload on Thursday so they assumed there was gonna be a triple drop on Tuesday or that OP would have been uploaded Friday of last week in Thursdays place. Just my opinion. Personally as long as they keep the 4 episodes a week coming I’m chillin 😎

I'll be honest. We just had a higher exceptions of you guys. Not having one piece for a while and when you guys drop, there's no effort to make it up. That's where most grievances came from.

To be honest it really isn't that big of a deal to me, especially since you guys just went by the list that the mods gave you. Alltho I do wish that we also had some control about some instances when everyone agrees there should be a triple drop or something of the sorts. But the way (some) people went for your throats is pretty disgusting. And saying stuff like your whole day is ruined because of an extra episode you didnt get is wild to me. But in the end of the day everyone has their opinions on these things.

Personally there is no delay for me Im more so speaking from a holistic view from what I see others complaining about. It’ll never be a win-win situation because the second one thing gets addressed, people will just start yapping about other bs like # of Uploads or whatnot. Yall are doing fine, the main issue seems to be upload times. I would see if there is a way to make the margin of error a little more consistent. Obviously length of vids change file sizes, but potentially creating a set time per video so that the size remains relatively stable could help push out uploads within a more concise time frame. Also running analysis to see when Patreon Servers are at its busiest so that you upload the vids when the least amount of people are could help. The rest of it is out of everyones control aka internet speed, patreon’s overall server workload, etc. Alrighty done yappin. Appreciate what you do and I honestly wouldnt be mad if you treated everything as white noise cus theres a lot of kids around here.

thank you Jimmy! And i dont want to make any promises yet, but we are exploring/testing if we can schedule all uploads to be released at a specific time. Over the next week or so we will be working towards that to solve the upload time issue, which i truly think sparks everything else.

Ya, it's sad to see those aggresive comments as a OP fan myself. Please don't be discouraged by the aggressive and negative ones. I want you guys to enjoy anime and OP. I'm glad you are thinking positively and taking in feedback to improve.💪🏻 You guys are doing great and I enjoy every moment of your reactions especially OP.❤️ I do have a suggestion that if many ever request for triple drops of certain episodes, maybe you can consult your mods if it actually has to be a triple. Of course, that is only if you still have time to adjust your filming schedule for those request. I personally don't care about triple or quadruple drops but I only suggest them at times if I think it will maximise your experience of the show. If you guys don't do it, I'm perfectly fine with it. 😂

I struggle to understand this obsession of some people with the timings or days of the uploads. As long as there are uploads weekly (save for special occasions like the holidays) it’s cool. What does it matter if they happen on a Wednesday instead of a Tuesday or whatever? Same for the triple requests. We watched 1 episode a week of OP for like 25 years and survived. So as much as I would love to watch an episode a day with Ron and Michelle, I believe triple or quadruple episodes drops shouldn't be for us, but for the reactors … to help them keep the momentum in certain periods and have a better experience during this journey. Well, at least this is my opinion. As entertaining as reading the comments of the last upload was, it went way out of control. Leaving a bitter taste for the show, the reactors and other fellow patreons. And none of these 3 groups deserved it.

Man I really dislike when other members who pay to watch other shows like Naruto etc. Come and bash us for voicing our concerns and criticism like we pay like you guys pay for proper reactions especially for certain episodes and situations in said episodes? how else are they supposed to address the situation? the behavior they’re addressing was the majority of op fans, not just “a few bad apples.” (literally you can see ppl defending them getting ratioed by negative comments). if this doesn’t apply to you, then it’s not directed at you. but since the majority of the toxicity came from this group, it makes sense to address it collectively instead of individually.

I think the overall cause of this is just an unfortunate case of bad timing and a piling of “disappointments” happening all at once. Bad timing due to the fact that One piece happened to land on a holiday within the same month of another missed upload, added to the fact that it was uploaded much later than most anticipated as well as it not being a triple upload as many were looking forward to. It’s unfortunate because you guys truly are at no fault for this, like i said it’s just bad timing the way things naturally came about. To be frank, it seems a lot of our expectations were placed a bit too high. Though some definitely took this harder than others and went too far in expressing their frustrations. I think we could all agree that proper communication is the savior when it comes to stuff like this. We as a community should do better in expressing our concerns or confusions in a more rational matter, but I believe we should also receive some communication back so we know where to set our expectations for the future. All in all i appreciate your guys’ efforts in trying to make things better for all of us in the best way you can. 🩷 I know it’s not always possible to cater to everyone’s wants (we’ve seen this before with sub vs dub arguments lol)..

I understand the frustration from some patreons, but this is too much. We're a community that is brought together by an amazing show. We don't need to be aggressive towards each other and Ron/Michelle either. I do agree that a bit more transparency would be helpful to guide expectations, but let's just enjoy the journey together.

i’m sorry you’re dealing with all this negativity. i hope it doesn’t make you subconsciously view one piece differently because the fandom doesn’t reflect the anime itself. honestly, the fandom is the reason i didn’t want to watch one piece awhile ago they can be way too toxic it’s kind of like mha fans that make the anime bad 😭. but the anime as a story and experience stands on its own, and it’s so worth it. i know you already know this, but i just wanted to say it in case the negativity (assuming) starts to cloud your feelings about it the majority of us really appreciate what you do.

i say this bound to happen eventually. I've also felt R&M been time flaky on Op (now my main reason for sub) but i don't comment on it. i just simply unsub and go some where else for few month to let it build, but you have to understand how this will build up frustration after a while. Missing it for Life reason or mental health is fine but announcement is needed. Also to add fuel to the flame, mod seem to be slacking if not addressing heavy request. From what i read in the comment, I can agree some of what people say its a little excessive. But there also seem to be fair amount virtue signaler that also bring out the bad side everyone else to raise their standing. Well ty that this is finally being address and hopefully set some standard/consistency.

Passive aggressive & straight aggressive comments, saying disrespectful things about the mods, assuming Ron's, Michelle's & the Mods' emotions about OP, creating negative conspiracy theories about upload times & episodes, etc.👈🏾 IT'S ALL OF THIS. Ron & Michelle have always taken any well-meaning suggestions with kindness and gratefulness. They are thoughtful, admit their mistakes, but are assertive and stand on their word. They apologize and make up for lots of stuff in the best way they can. Seeing others talk so negatively to and about them and their team makes me, also a paying patron, feel a little indignant because the negativity is uncalled-for. You can feel how you feel but at least talk to people with kindness, respect, and assertiveness.

Too many people don't understand the transaction they are making when they subscribe to a Patreon. You aren't paying every month for a set amount of episodes. You aren't even paying for a service. You are paying to support creators that you enjoy. Period. If you have other reasons for subscribing, that's on you, and the creators aren't obligated to cater to the expectations you create for yourself. You aren't entitled to a minimum of 4 OP eps a week.

Fans don’t even need a lengthy reply, just a quick thumbs-up on the right suggestions (e.g., “271-273 or 275-278 as triples/quadruples”) would save everyone from scrolling through 100 identical comments. It changes constantly so why would you think its a set in stone thing? Did the patreon packages advertise that schedule? No. You paid to support what they are doing and getting 4 a week is the bonus. No arguments, just constructive criticism. The way i see it, standards are standards. Consistency. If that expectation was too high, then that's on us, the viewers. We didn't expect OP to be consistently put off for one reason or another. I am in total agreement, us all getting angry at each other doesn't do anything, whether you're angry over missed reactions or the "i am holier than thou" arguments. I'm not on any particular side, but lets not demonize each other for their feelings. I'm thankful for Ron for putting this out. But neither will I play pretend, because I think its important to understand where these criticisms come from. This is a dialogue, and though it can be messy, let's keep it respectful

Unfortunately there r a lot of toxic fans in the anime community that take it extremely serious. Especially the one piece community. Can’t even criticize below average arcs like skypia, ect (would list a couple more but don’t want to spoil anything those who watched all of it know which arcs r too long and not high quality) without them coming for your throat. Just have to ignore them and let them be miserable on their own.

And of course there was a perfectly reasonable explanation behind all of this. What a shame too, that planned quad drop would've been such a cool surprise for us. I'm sorry y'all had to go through this, I can only hope this doesn't spoil your journey in experiencing this great story. I swear in other reaction communities I rarely if ever see One Piece fans act THIS impulsively. Paying patrons certainly have the right to express their criticisms and concerns, but please can we try to keep it mature and respectful from now on. At the end of the day, Ron and Michelle and their assistants are all real people doing their best.

See, that's right. If you care enough, you can contribute. I created a Naruto Shippuden episode list and Black Clover episode list that tells them filler eps, canon eps, anime canon eps, triples, doubles, end credit scenes, when openings & endings are okay to watch, non-spoiler notes, etc. by using online and patreon consensus. I did it on a weekend when I had nothing to do. I made it on Google forms and sent them the link via Discord DMs. Their mods checked it and now they're using it. It was simple for me since I wanted them to have a great experience watching the show while also making sure they can pay attention to what's needed for content. Will anyone do the same for One Piece?

I seriously only pay for OP at the moment, since I haven’t watched most of the newer animes you guys are reacting to… just hope we can add more episodes to OP per week just for the sake of keeping up the pace and eventually catch up to the current arcs—instead of adding a “new” anime in the roster. I think it will be good for Ron and Michelle since some of the next arcs might be too long and it will keep the momentum. Though i understand the frustration and criticism, it is sad to see so many aggressive comments. Regardless, i’ve always admired Ron and Michelle’s way of clearing any miscommunication or way of dealing with issues. I love your personal reflections and your platform. That’s why i keep supporting you guys 🙌🏼 OG crow through and through 🐦‍⬛🥰

I was just thinking from 4 to maybe 6, just considering how the entire anime will play out in the future. I caught up to one piece by watching in x2 speed because it was too slow for me to enjoy. Idk why, but the rest of the animes i have watched in normal speed but not OP… So I’m just putting it out here for consideration not an actual request 🤗🤗🤗

Damn, it was supposed to be a surprise quad drop but all ruined coz some of us cannot chill. It leaves a sour taste to what is supposed to be one of the most epic episodes of the Arc. You have to take a chill pill, to be honest. I am disappointed that it leaves me hanging after the last upload but hey, it is not the end of the world my dear OP fans. It reminds me of my ex that I didn't make an effort on our Anniversary when I had it all planned out. Leaves a very awkward feeling that is supposed to be a memorable day. We look like crybabies in front of non-OP fans to be honest. Embarrassing.

There are many people who want to fight each other in the comments here😂 "onepiece fans" are not the problem. As I kept saying, this is a place where fans and creators communicate and share joy with each other. No one has the upper hand. Creators provide content and fans pay to see their content. The recent problem is that uploading promised content was much later than scheduled and there was no explanation for it, so fans had no choice but to wait for news. Of course, aggressive comments left by some angry fans among them are not allowed to be made. To prevent this from happening, as Ron said, if the upload is delayed a lot, if you let the fans know, the fans can understand and choose whether to watch it the next day. Everyone can make mistakes. Some people insult the dress fan, saying, "I'm impatient," "Young and crybaby." This is also wrong. Please respect each other. It's not that serious compared to the comments I saw at the Naruto Post. lol

Bro ignore toxic fans, like in every big piece of fiction there will be toxicity, you can’t dodge that. I would want more One piece episodes per week considering how long this show is, but I’m not selfish enough to even ask that, because the same way I love One Piece someone could love other shows. So anyway I just hope these dudes will not affect your genuine reactions to this series, because I love you for this, and I rarely post any comments just because I’m chill with your content. So do whatever you want. For some people it will always be not enough no matter how much One Piece episodes you watch per week. So let’s continue this journey.

@Regie Khemvisay Yeah, it happens. The longer an anime is, the likelier this kind of stuff is to happen. OP is over 1000 episodes and they're a little over 250 episodes in. Yesterday a lot happened (this is Korea) I saw the post. It's a great choice to let fans know if the upload is late. I'm a fan of One Piece and Naruto. I also see that the upload of One Piece has been delayed a lot recently, sometimes past midnight, and fans ask me about it. Then Naruto's fans write a lot of offensive comments like, "Fans on One Piece are impatient." Like a crybaby. I think this was the fault of mod and some malicious fans. Most fans will wait unless they know why the upload is delayed. If you let me know why it's delayed or when it's going to be uploaded, fans can go to sleep and watch and choose the next day. Sorry if it might make me feel bad about comparing it to other creators. For example, there's "yaboyroshi." If the upload of the video is going to be delayed, it tells you why and the date or time when it will be uploaded. Most fans will be satisfied with this. It's not that difficult. I suggested this in the comments yesterday and my country was insulted by Naruto fans lol

Ok so heres my thoughts...as I did post yesterday although I do not think my post was offensive in any way. I mentioned the drop time in comparison to Naruto drops as that was genuinely my concern. 1. Firstly, as stated above, I do have an issue with the really late drops. I have a senior position at my job, so I leave quite early for work so I would appreciate earlier drops. As someone said, please let us know if the drops are gonna be late or if the day is a bad day to upload it for you guys or your editor, just change the day maybe? I like to watch your content as soon as it comes out and One Piece is my favorite anime followed by Naruto. If you guys found my post offensive (it isnt but, ill still say this) I do apologize. If its other fans, I do apologize on their behalf. For alot of anime fans, and this goes for various anime, you will find people are passionate about it because it represents periods in their lives which are quite significant. Ive read hundreds if not thousands of testimonies of people stating how One Piece, Naruto and other anime has saved them from self-deletion or a bad breakup, parents divorce, losing a loved one, and the list goes on. Not excusing any disrespect whatsoever, im just saying, this is where they are coming from. 2. It does feel like the people listing the drops for u guys are out of tune with how it is supposed to be scheduled. That is my honest thought. It has happened several times because I read all comments on the shows that I watch here. We, the fans know the anime and for alot of us, we know the episodes to give u guys the best experience possible. We support u guys for the value u provide to us, so it is coming from a good place. I will admit some fans do go overboard and others just wanna rewatch the anime and be selfish...but id say the majority of us just want the best for u guys. U guys should also be aware by now that we also have been advocating for more eps/more frequent drops for OP btw...so when u add everything up, the drops being late, its already only 2x per week, and on top of that fans sit for hours waiting to watch only for it to be uploaded 12-1am...u have to expect people aren't gonna be too happy with that guys. Lastly, i NEED to say this part too. After saying all this, I REALLY REALLY appreciate the fact that you address things like this Ron. Just the fact that you read them yourself and address them, always trying to give us what we want or at least explain why you cant do it etc...it really goes a long way for me specifically and im sure others too. We end up in scenarios like this because we just really love your content :) For me specifically, its the PERFECT thing to unwind after a long day at work! To get comfy, get some snacks/food and watch and laugh with Ron and Michelle (sometimes with friends or my gf) is basically a tradition and habit at this point. Thats the joy and value u bring. I remember in earlier days Naruto's reaction started, people were commenting on EVERY other post like "Where's Naruto!?" and honestly it was annoying as hell. Same with this time with some of OP fans. The bigger the fandom, the harder to meet everyone's expectations, but fr it's annoying to see those fanbases (and others) blaming each other by pointing at certain fanbases. I usually get excited watching reaction and wanna hang out in comment section but looking at people fighting each other...ugh. yeah i can get that, but a majority of the comments are extremely negative when it is not warranted for the circumstances. it's a reaction to an anime that's a bit late. or not enough episodes in one upload. it's really silly. there are people all over the world watching, so the upload time isn't the same for everyone anyway. the uploads get uploaded middle of the night for me because of the time zone difference, it could be seen as inconvenient, but i don't complain because it simply is what it is. again, it boils down to entitlement and clock watching. this post itself that we're commenting on has done all the things you are asking, so there is really no need to complain or moan like some people are doing in the replies. they have given a thorough explanation. unexpected things can also happen. no one is infallible

Watch at whatever pace is viable for your lives. One Piece is a journey, not a race, and I wish other fans of the series understood this.
