Right as I was going to bed, a story prompt came to mind. Thankfully, I retained it into the next day and committed it to writing. For once, I rolled the dice on the whole "sleep on it" thing and came out okay!

Oh my god, this was utterly tragic, but in, like, the best way possible. From the moment that Chilzo awoke, I feel like I knew that it was too late for Nicolas, but it was still so hard to see it play out, along with Chilzo's lack of understanding about what happened. But honestly? I feel like I'd have done the same in Nicolas's position, having known people who are tied to their sense of selfless duty. The imagery of the beast travelling across the lands and the shadows and the foam was all so clear as well. Even in such a short piece, it was easy to see exactly into the window of this world that's shown here. Also, maybe a weird thing to say, but the way Chilzo is described made him sound like literally every character my housemate ever makes (in a good way!). We have a running gag that all his OCs are like little blue alien guys with white hair and gold/yellow eyes. So it was pretty amusing to see that kinda character here. But hey, these mystical characters look cool for a reason!
