I needed a "quick and easy" project after that last build and this was definitely not that... But it does have a little bit of everything. Drafting, chamfers, side projects, and, regrettably, visit(s) to the B.O.S...

Enjoy!

PATREON - Making a UNIVERSAL Tap Follower || INHERITANCE MACHINING

Welcome back to my manual machine shop. In this build I’ll be making a spring loaded universal tap follower. This is a super useful tapping guide that keeps your tap and tap wrench straight when thread tapping. I’ll start at the drafting table putting together a detailed pencil drawing of the parts. And while it’s not nearly as over engineered of a design as I normally do, there are some features that were far more challenging than I anticipated. And the box of shame claims several victims… Despite that I got to spend some quality time at the metal lathe, my favorite machine. And after several videos without one, had an excuse to knock out a good side project #inheritancemachining #machineshop #hobbymachinist Patreon (Drawings) - https://www.patreon.com/inheritancemachining Drawings Store - https://inheritancemachining.com/?product_tag=drawings Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/inheritancemachining/ Website - https://inheritancemachining.com/ Thank you again to the Micrometer level Patreon members listed at the end of the video! Another great tool at the end with a lot of practice and learning leading up to it. Thanks! 👍🏼👍🏼

Oh perfect! This is exactly what I needed.

Getting your tailstock down to a tenth is Most Impressive! Really liked the length of throw and the running fits you achieved. Thanks! Don't worry bigger BOS's are easy to come by...;-P

I am now less sceptical now that have seen the reason for you using the Mill as a lathe. It makes sense... in some way to use it to keep stuff square

James Riordan

Great addition to the shop (and the BOS 😱) !

Jean-Bruno Desrosiers

Nice project... Thank! I also laughed so much when I saw the "Box of Shame"!

Great job once again Brandon! No mistakes just learning opportunities.....or at least that's what I tell myself lol
