Alrighty, that was pretty good for an out-there-space thriller. I think movies like this need a very good cast to make them work because so much relies on good performances. I agree with you that Trey's error with the shields was a big yikes. You could 'write it off' (heh) as a problem with the character and the effects of being isolated in space, but still. Checks and balances! I think their decision to go to the Icarus 1 was also a huge yikes, lol. "We have to go to the Icarus 1!" me: uh no you don't! They made it all about oxygen, too, with their survival, but there's no way they'd have fuel to do all these extra booster ignitions and get back home. But what do I know! hahahaha. Capa also mentioned how the payload might not be enough.. then why are you there? It definitely looked like the Icarus 2 was bigger than 1. But yeah, suspension of belief, it's fine! I agree with you about Pinbacker, too. If this were a TTRPG that *I* was running... They would have run into Pinbacker on the Icarus 1 and had a scuffle there, or some cosmic horror goodiness, then have an incident with Trey back on the 2 with the two women. I agree Searle would have made a very good substitute for an antagonist. It would have been much better to lean more into the cosmic horror than into a big bad monster dude. The scene where Cassie is walking past the corridor and there's the silouette of Pinbacker sitting there down the way was chef's kiss. I love shit like that. The score was also very good, especially the song playing when Capa is disengaging the payload from the Icarus 2 and he jumps across the void. There's a movie score composer I like, Steve Jablonsky, who actually does the scores for the Transformer movies, and other Michael Bay stuffr, and that song VERY MUCH reminded me of him. It wasn't though. Great reaction, Greg! The whole time Mel Gibson's voice was running through my head: "Give me back my sun!" xD
