Looking forward to this series!

I'm so excited for this you have no idea! It's the show that immediately makes me and a bunch of others subscribe to reactors Patreons. The show starts slow building the universe but let it play out. It's easily my favorite Sci Fi TV show. I'll definitely be watching the whole way through your reactions. I'll be happy to explain anything that needs explanation and I'm excited for your journey. The show just gets better and better as it goes.

A couple Non spoiler explainers that are worth noting mostly about the physics of the universe. The "Flip and burn" portion is something that often confuses people coming from sci-fi like star trek. Basically since they don't have the magic "gravity plating" that star trek does ships are built in a way that they can continuously generate thrust gravity Think of the ships being built like skyscrapers with each deck stacked on the next with the engine being on the bottom. By constantly accelerating until the midpoint of a journey they are able to generate constant thrust gravity as they are essentially being pushed up on by the engine as the decks are stacked vertically. Then at the midpoint they flip the ship in the opposite direction and decelerate to match their original acceleration leaving them with the same gravity they had before. The acceleration drugs they used were because they had to do a higher g burn to get them into a close enough distance for the shuttle Knight to then go intercept the distress signal from the Scopuli. The Cant was an old ship and not really designed for that so that's why parts of it were falling apart. This kind of thing applies to basically all space travel in the show where there is generally constant acceleration to generate "gravity" The exception is the space stations that use conventional spin gravity like in a lot of other scifi.

THANK YOU! I didn't understand exactly what they were doing but this explanation clears it up! Be careful, my friend...you may end up being my go-to for info :) Thanks again!

Always happy to help. This show along with it's book series is some of my favorite media of all time

oh so excited for this

Don't worry, if I know expanse fans you'll have folks tripping over each other to clarify every little detail of the science and such lol

DUDE!!!! I'm so fucking excited for this!! I just read the entire series this year and it was fantastic and the show is fantastic!!

Ezra Wyrd

Glad to see how animated you were in the discussion! You're definitely picking up what the show is putting down, and asking the right questions. There truly is a lot of information being thrown at you, and you're absolutely right in that the writers toss you in the deep end, but it will all feel like second nature within the next few episodes. Can't wait to see your journey through this series, I just know you're going to love these characters and this world.

Watching this was the first thing I did today, hahaha. I'm so excited to rewatch this series xD I really hope you dig the shit out of it! I'm not sure how much side information for the world/setting you're looking to get from those of us who've watched it?? I loathe spoilers myself so I'm very cautious with that. I mentioned above it's a book series (10 books!) so I feel like that's one of the reasons they jump into the deep end, BUT the books are done a lot differently than the show. Because there's so much happening with the plot, you won't see a lot of time focused on the history of our space exploration. There are no hard dates given for historical events, for example, so we don't really know what year all this all takes place. There are a lot of characters, and a lot come and go, but you'll pick up on the core cast pretty quick! I hope we can add The Expanse to our ttrpg games to play soon :) Shit, I could talk all night about this, lol! Looking forward to Ep.02!

I'm psyched, G! Been at the top of my list for so long...can't wait to watch with you!

Warp Reactor

Fantastic! I will definitely reach out for the background lore if its not addressed in the show. Really interested to learn about the 'hows' of the Expanse-verse :) As soon as I learn the world more, I'm completely down for a TTRPG Expanse experience!

Warp Reactor

So excited, my friend! With so many of you all fans of the Expanse, believe that I will be reaching out if/when (definitely 'when') I get baffled by something :)
