Aliyah

My bestfriend has BP1 (the same type ian has) and it’s actually wild watching these little things unfold again. I haven’t rewatched properly since she’s (my bff) been through her diagnosis and episodes, so it’s really interesting just how much of this they got right. Another great comparison is that my bff was also a dancer when her first episode hit (and an addict, so not as relatable to ian there), so the hyper-sexuality stuff and how he only returns to the club during this amp-up of his episode, plus being so nonchalant about doing what he’s doing is like, truly how it was for me to witness inrl too. They do such a good job with him

That Mickey and Ian scene is heartbreaking. Mickey definitely didn't handle it right. He should've listened to Fiona and Lip from the start anyway, but even though he didn't there were definitely better ways to handle it. Like, I get it. He was both worried and hurt. I think while he can see now that Ian's not well and not exactly in the most control here, there's also that hurt of Ian cheating on him. Plus, he shouldn't have let Ian out of his sight after that. I get he needed a minute, and also he doesn't understand, but anything could've happened in that moment. Like, obviously he took off with Yevgeny, but he also could've tried to kill himself or anything. (Like I said, I do get it though...) And Ian. All this time he likely felt that Mickey was the only one on his side. Everyone else he cared about was constantly trying to convince him to see a Doctor and get help, they were all telling him he's not well. Meanwhile, Mickey was fighting against all that. He was telling everyone that Ian was okay, he wasn't trying to convince him to see a Doctor or get help. So to Ian, it would definitely feel like a betrayal that Mickey is now on that other side. Of course, we know that's not the case. We know that they all just want what's best for him and that he isn't well and needs a Doctor. But he doesn't, and so to "lose" Mickey like that must be really upsetting. It's definitely good that Mickey has finally realised how serious this is though. Unfortunately, it was a little late and now Ian has kidnapped a baby... (What is it with these redheaded Gallaghers and kidnapping babies?!)
