Well. Ah...huh. It's a little embarrassing, but it's not like it hasn't happened before. Yesterday, while waiting for my editor to get back online after some business he had to handle, I lied down for a nap and wound up sleeping for nine hours.

What even is my life.

Anyway. Here is where things get...interesting. There's a lot I want to say about this chapter, but all of it is really spoilery, which is why I'm not going to say very much at all.

I will say, however, that the cliffhanger you guys get at the end of this chapter has been planned for...whew, I'm not even sure how long. This has been the plan for dealing with Coil for quite some time, at least stretching back through the beginning of arc 4, probably even during arc 3.

Anyway. Back to work on 6.0. Then, to what will probably be Coil's interlude. Dunno. If I go to Coil's interlude first, it spoils one or two things in 6.3, but if I go 6.3 first, it spoils a couple of things in Coil's interlude.

EDIT 6/13/18: Added a single sentence right near the end. It plays in later, during Coil's interlude.

Noooooo! not another cliff hanger! O well at lest getting two chapters today made me quite happy today.

If I had to guess, I'd say Lisa shot him. His power is incredibly useful and I doubt Contessa would intervene just to remove it.

Aria Raney

A question for you Fawkes, how powerful do you think servants are compared to the big names like the triumvirate? You've described her in universe as 'triumvirate tier', but I'm not sure that's true if you go by the given numbers for each universe, given that officially 'A rank' in a stat only means 50x peak human if I remember right, which doesn't really come close to what we know about Alexandria. Then again that stat never really made sense to me, so if you're ignoring it and establishing your own scale I don't blame you.

Dr. Mercurious

...if this was Lisa, does this count as betraying Taylor's trust?

Benjamin Lawton

Compared to PtV, and its automatic "I Win" cheat? Not hardly. Not to mention that Lisa predictably would've wanted to at least GLOAT a bit first.

Aria Raney

Well I'm not saying Contessa would intervene to save him, I just don't think she has any motive to insure he's dead. And even if she wanted him dead she could have done it any time, no reason to do it with witnesses. I highly doubt it's our favorite boogeyman.

Stats for Servants are almost literally pointless, except as a comparison of the capabilities between them. Feats are more useful as a guideline for what you can do with X Strength or Y Agility or how much magical energy Z Noble Phantasm requires, because that "50 times normal human" stuff is bull. Herc holding up the sky, for example, massively outdoes Alexandria's best feat - the thing where she held up an entire base by herself - and only equates B+ Strength. That's...really not "80 times normal human." There are some areas where the Triumvirate does outdo a given Heroic Spirit. Alexandria being able to fly, for example, gives her a massive mobility advantage against even someone like Herakles. In a fight between Taylor and any one of the Triumvirate, what it will really come down to is which hero lets her make those advantage pointless, and there are a few who do that even against Eidolon.

Aria Raney

Cool. I agree entirely, but I wanted to know your opinion on it, though I do want to point out Alexandria and Legend's feat of flying halfway around the world in 6 minutes. I imagine the triumvirate is probably faster than most heros on top of the flight advantage, baring speed based heroes or teleportation, especially considering that what was considered supernaturally fast a long time ago can be achieved with just a car or a plane in the modern day.

James_D_Fawkes

In the long run, yeah, Legend and Alexandria have higher speeds. Legend is probably the fastest, no matter what, because his powers are geared towards that. For most heroes, however, and this should *probably* apply to Alex, too, even if they have higher marathon speeds, the majority of Heroic Spirits have massively superior acceleration, because while parahumans still, in some fashion, have to obey physics, Heroic Spirits don't. To put it simply, Alex wins the marathon, but Herc, Cu, and most Heroic Spirits will win the short dash.

Why do I get the feeling that Coil decided to do something stupid due to his power being interfered with and Lisa decided to make a non lethal shot to dissuade him?

Paul Rendell

Considering that Coil's power is the only thinker power (in canon that I know of) that actually models endbringers, Eidolon and Scion? Highly unlikely they would kill him, but since they decided to be hands off in regards to the whole Brockton Bay experiment, it is possible that they decided that if he couldn't keep himself alive, then why bother?
