Laplace’s Eye [Term]

Laplace’s Eye, the Eye of the Demon that Knows the Future. A long-range remote-viewing device that can see the near future with absolute clarity. A type of Clairvoyance device that grants sight of things that absolutely will occur within a limited time range and a specific space.

Sacrificing breadth, depth, and range, it is an almighty precognitive mechanism that allows the user to predict a specific event at a specific time in a specific place without fail. By limiting the scope of its viewing, it narrows down the range of possibilities to “what will happen” instead of “what might happen.”

By limiting the scope of its sight, however, it removes the ability to see past a certain point or beyond the realm of certainty and into the possible. It cannot predict large, sweeping events the world over, nor can it see into the distant future. The range of its viewing is limited to minutes.

That is to say, it sacrifices all other things in order to achieve a result of one-hundred percent. By the same token, what it sees is necessarily absolute.

An impartial observer that cannot choose the future nor influence it, but knows it with absolute certainty… Truly, this is Laplace’s Eye.
