Editor had some real life drama to deal with, so this is a few days later than when I "finished" it, but I hope the surprise at the end makes up for the delay.

This is, so far, a relatively minor deviance from canon Orleans, especially compared to Carmilla's early death. Having said that, the presence of Elizabeth made some sense against Carmilla, but Kiyohime didn't, and frankly, the scenario writer for Orleans kinda squandered the Elizabeth v Carmilla subplot.

Poor Glory Girl, though. She has such a dubious honor to serve as a comparison to that Servant. Or perhaps it's the other way around, and that Servant has the dubious honor of being compared to Glory Girl?

EDIT: Moving this down the rest of the way.

Great chapter! I really enjoy seeing Jeanne's doubts and introspection, as well as Taylor's response. But can someone explain to me why Siegfried was locked up but not killed? I don't think Armor of Fafnir should be a good enough explanation in my opinion...

Canonically, Martha stashed him in the castle for safekeeping, but I really don't know how Jalter and Phantom wouldn't have known she did it. I mean, Servants can detect Servants, and Siegfried was injured, not killed. The mere fact that she can still sense him should be enough of a clue that he didn't die. It might also be that the entire reason Jalter let it slide was because she *couldn't* kill Siegfried. He was wounded, sure, but even after dealing that wound, it was merely, "He can't really fight back," not, "he's two steps away from death." She might have decided it was just too costly to try and press the issue instead of leaving him in the dungeon and letting Phantom guard him.
