[Hereafter] Chapter XXIV: Orléans (Patreon)

This...not quite filler. It's a bridging chapter to connect last chapter with next chapter. It's not to say that nothing important happens this chapter, just that I didn't want to skip it entirely. 

So apropos of what's said in-chapter, let's give some numbers.

Orléans is about 200 miles from Thiers by road. Straight line, it's 161 miles, but going in a straight line is actually slower, because you have to account for trees and underbrush, so we're going with the roads. By car, the trip will take you about 3 hours. By foot? That's another week.

Something really does need to be figured out about crossing these distances in a reasonable timeframe. I wonder how aging works in Singularities? Speaking technically, the timing doesn't work out at a 1-1 ratio, which has been said before, but if the team really did go by foot, then Ritsuka and Mash probably spent three or four years just inside the Singularities themselves, forget about their downtime inside Chaldea. If they aged normally, Ritsuka definitely wasn't underage in Babylonia and could have had as much alcohol as s/he wanted.
