So, let's talk for a minute. No, no, it's nothing bad, I assure you, it's just that a particular option has been made available recently, and I figure I should clarify it and discuss it with all of you before making any changes.
With that in mind, you may have seen in the last few days that there's now a subscription-based billing system available to creators. What this new system does is, instead of billing on the first of the month, it bills patrons every month on the same day: the day they subbed to a creator. In this case, me.
What this would do: if someone signs up late in the month, then they won't have to worry about being charged again a few days after they join. Instead, they'll be charged at the same time the next month, so someone who joins on, say, October 23rd will be billed again on November 23rd instead of November 1st, and then again on December 23rd (holidays excepting, presumably), and January 23rd, and so on, which is a lot fairer to them if you ask me. Realistically speaking, nothing really changes for me, since I only ever payout once a month anyway.
What this would NOT do: if you're already subbed, you'll still be charged on the 1st of every month you're subscribed for. Nothing changes for you. In effect, the only way this new system would apply to you was if you unsubbed and then resubbed later, for whatever reason, and, frankly, if your pledge has already gone through, you're just paying double for the month you make the change on, so doing that to change your charge date might be a little counterproductive.
What I was afraid this would do, but it doesn't: apply to everyone, so that either I would have to accept a loss if I activated it too late in the month or charge everyone again if I activated it too early. Fortunately, like I said: it doesn't work that way. If you're already subbed, you'll continue to be charged on the first of every month and only then, like normal.
I don't see why this change would be a problem for anyone, but I figured I'd put it out there and get your thoughts. Yea or nay?
