Because that travesty that Takeuchi came up with is a disservice to the real deal.

Anyway, this is my take on what Type Moon Jeanne should have actually looked like. You'll notice that the bodysuit beneath her armor and the skirt of her...I guess it was supposed to be a tunic? The bodysuit and the skirt are my only real concessions, color-wise, to Takeuchi's version.

The armor wasn't much changed. It's got more protection for her knees and thighs, plus a full breastplate rather than that...whatever it was supposed to be that TM Jeanne had. More realistic articulation in the joints. A skirt of mail hanging from the fauld, to give yet more protection to her thighs - particularly the inner parts, where she's more vulnerable.

The tabard or surcoat she's wearing over the breastplate is in France's national colors, plus the fleur-de-lis near the bottom.

But one of the most important changes is the skin tone and hair color. That, based upon what few accounts actually remain about her appearance, is what she would have looked like. Jeanne was not a puffed-up German princess or a delicate English rose, complete with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was a farm girl. She spent her days working out in the hot sun. She had dark hair and eyes, tan skin.

This is how Jeanne should have been drawn by Type Moon.
