Happy Holidays! You voted on the next movie you wanted to watch and The Muppet Christmas Carol won!!

I'd never seen a muppets movie or show before so this was a completely new experience. I LOVED it!! What an emotional and thought provoking movie. This was the perfect blend of comedy and drama, with a dash of childlike wonder!

Synopsis: The Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday tale of old Mr Scrooge being confronted with his past misdeeds by three ghosts that hope he will change his ways.

PLEASE NOTE: If you watch this with me on Disney+, make sure to go to the EXTRAS page and click on the FULL version.

The Muppet Christmas Carol Full Version (Full Length)

Relieved you watched the full version. As good as the theatrical version is, it's just not the same without "When Love Is Gone"; it hits you right in the feels.

The Muppets are great, you should check out The Muppet Movie ( 1979) which introduced the world to the Muppets. This one works so well because Michael Caine plays it absolutely straight.

This is my favorite Christmas movie of all time!! Such a heartwarming, feel-good film! If you liked this one, I’d also recommend “Muppet Treasure Island.” Similar vibe, but instead of Michael Caine, it’s Tim Curry!

Mike Smith

Too bad you never got to see Muppets 3D at Disneyland. I hear they are sadly closing down the one in Disney World too. It's absolutely hilarious.

Mike Smith

Supposedly they are looking into ways to preserve it, but I don't know how that'll work since they don't even make 3D TV's anymore. It was one of the last projects Jim Henson worked on.

Michael Kemmet

Jax: You probably figured this out during the edit, but the reason the creepy girl(yes, we all agree she's creepy) can only remember almost 1900 years is because the story was written in 1843 and she's the Ghost of CHRISTmas Past. ;) And ditto to checking out The Muppet Movie(1979). On the plus side, if you're anything like me, you'll get all the crying out of the way in the opening song. lol

Ed Scoglio

I won't lie, when I saw how sad you were seeing Tiny Tim had died, I wanted to give you a hug! Seeing you so sad made me feel so sad!!! Kermit's speech about life being about comings and goings was especially poignat since this was the first Muppet project after Jim Henson's untimely death. The Idea Man is a documentary about him and it's on Disney and it is a fantastic watch! There's tons of Muppet media! I was obsessed with them as a kid! There's a lot of movies and they've had 3 shows too! Sesame Street is related, both were created by Jim Henson so there's a lot of crossover in terms of characters. The puppet movie with Melissa McCarthy you're thinking of is The Happy time Murders and it's not a Muppet movie. It is a VERY different thing. It would make you blush for sure haha!

Ed Scoglio

Something I've seen said that perfectly describes those movies is that Michael Caine played it as if the Muppets were real people and Tim Curry played it like he himself was a Muppet.

What a wonderful reaction, Jax! My favorite Muppet movie is The Great Muppet Caper. I think you'd really like that one, so I hope you'll watch it soon!

TheEbonyElephant

Great reaction, @Jax! Glad you liked this! I grew up on with Sesame Street. It’s its own thing… although a muppet will cameo in the others’ medium sometimes. Mr. Snuffleupagus and Big Bird have an interesting history.

Rogue

"Why does she only remember 1900 years" Well have I got a Christmas story to tell you 🤣

Alex Gorell

Hope you get around to watching It’s a Wonderful Life this Christmas season. I think you would really enjoy it.

Lee Aguera

Oh hell yeah! This is my favorite Christmas movie of all time! And I saw a review of this movie few years back, comparing it to other Christmas carols, and in terms of direct quotes from the original book the Muppets Christmas carol is the most accurate to the book.

Jonathan Barclay

I've always loved this movie. I'm glad you watched the extended with "the love we found". Also FUN FACT! at 1:21:04 (ending song) the pass by a shop called "Micklewhite's" which is Michael Caine's real last name.

Kay Douglas

Yay! I'm so glad you watched this one! Don't worry girl, I cried with you the whole time! haha It **always** gets me every time. Not only is it a great story, but one my family watched every year. SOOoo glad you watched the extended version too! I know it's really just that one scene and song that get cut in the new version. but... it's such a pivotal moment for Scrooge that I think it is a disservice to the story. Not to mention that Michael Caine trying to sing with her and crying is so moving! And Lastly- with regards to that same scene... "When Love is Gone" is the reprise at the end with "The Love We've Found" and so without that scene you miss the "full-circle" musically too that shows the change. <3 Let's see what we're watchin' next!

reactswithjax

Thanks for telling me about the extended version! No songs or scenes should be cut from this movie. They are all so perfect!! I'm glad I'm not the only one getting emotional. It's such a tearjerker!!

reactswithjax

That is such a great fun fact!!! His name is a bit of a tongue twister. Michael Micklewhite!

reactswithjax

Thank you!! I haven't heard of that movie but I'm sure it's a blast to watch! I definitely want to watch more muppet movies now.

reactswithjax

Yeah, the ghost only remembering 1900 years makes so much more sense now! Can't wait to see more muppet movies. I just hope I don't cry in all of them!!

reactswithjax

Tiny Tim's death was SO sad!! It's impressive that they were able to make such a moving film even after Jim Henson passed. That's incredible that he created the Muppets and Sesame Street!

Ed Scoglio

Oh he did so much! He did those, he developed the series Fraggle Rock, he made Dark Crystal and Labrynth. His legacy has endured more than 30 years after his passing.

Dark Wolf Shiro

God I love this movie, I watch it every year. This year I watched it in my hotel room in DIsneyland, skipped the night show to come back early for this. Still, it's only my second favourite muppets movie because Treasure Island beats it (but only just). Great reaction Jax!
