Esssentially, it's called "saki" aka Killing Intent or the intent to do harm. This is a real thing, although some humans have forgotten how to sense it. Stain's was so strong that people could feel it rolling off of him in waves. They were intimidated by him - to the point that no one could oppose his conviction in that moment. This is one of my favorite episodes. Can't wait until you meet Shigaraki's "master".
