I just finished my series rewatch in preparation for recording the finale tomorrow. I noticed quite a few things and has some theories I wasn't able to convey in the original reaction so I put them up on here for any of you interested in them.

1 Lazuri = the amount of miracle "power" used to raise Lazarus from the dead. So their miracle was enough "power" to raise 25 people from the dead perfectly human (maybe reverse death is more appropriate phrase here). Some context 😉 Episode 6 is gonna be a lot, but we get 1 more season! The end of the episode is not THE END ❤️

I love hearing you go off on or gush about things! It’s great! I cannot wait for tomorrow 😊👍🏻

A lot has been said about how David Tennant embodies Crowley, but Michael Sheen is a goddamn treasure of microexpressions and subtlety.

Remember, this is just the season 2 finale, it’s been confirmed that there’s gonna be a season 3. In fact, they start filming in January 2025! So just keep that in mind when you finish season 2, trust me.

You also have to remember that they were "enemies" for their entire lives! They've been having to speak in code and lie to their bosses for thousands of years just to keep themselves safe. Because like we saw at the end of last season, the consequences for working together, what heaven & hell see as betrayal, is death. So they haven't been able to address any feelings they may have directly and, as you've said, this has also made them REALLY bad at direct communication. 6000 years of certain behaviors is hard to unlearn.

I have mentioned before how this show reminds me of people dealing with toxic relationships. When you grow up with abusive parents you learn to lie or change the subject at the drop of a hat in order to keep the peace by not saying the "wrong" thing. That kind of conditioning runs deep.

Aziraphale has been very domestic this whole season and acting like they are already a thing, our bookshop, our car, way more touching than season 1, raised eyebrow when Shax says he’s not Crowley’s type. Crowley seemed to first realize this is where they’re heading when Nina pointed it out.

K Cianci

Oh boy, Morgan wants the insufferable ineffable husbands to talk about their feelings. Ask and ye shall receive???

Zolveig

Yes, if you think of Nina and Maggie as a mirror couple their looks and personalities make you think M is A and N is C but relationship wise it’s reversed. N is A and just getting out of a toxic relationship, Lindsey = heaven. The show is also very queer coded with references to historical homophobia. They’re hiding their relationship from their families as well as everybody else. It was illegal to be gay in the UK until 1967 (perhaps one day we could, I don’t know, go for a picnic, dine at the Ritz. I.e. be out in the open). Being outed was a real threat in 1941 and could result in loss of job and freedom. (The nazis sent them to concentration camps). Our boys don’t communicate very well, they’re always talking around things because they’ve had to hide for so long. Gay men literally talked in code, (look up “Polari”). There is so much going on in this show!

You know what?? you are right but also.... i think that Aziraphale focusing on Nina&Maggie was him unconsciously thinking about love (because it's easier with other people love life, as Nina said) and then sorting out what bonds him and Crowley. During the ball, when he sees Nina and Maggie dancing, he suddenly kinda realises what he always wanted!! He sees that happiness around him and he wants that for him and Crowley! He want to dance with him and it's so deeply sweet! I will never get over the Ball scene !

Something Stupid aaaa I also had it in my playlist

RJ

You make some excellent points and clever analysis - I'll be interested to see if you feel your questions are answered. Regarding the ball, I think Azi casts a general feeling of "romance" over the ball, which affects the different participants in different ways, but Nina knows that "they are doing this" and that the dancing is not part of the meeting, and Maggie accuses Azi of trying to hypnotise them. I don't think they have surrendered their free will, they are more affected by the general ambiance.

I find their lack of ability to communicate plans very interesting and sad. 6000 years where they weren’t supposed to interact- being caught planning together was a death sentence, but judging by the scene with FurFur after the magic show, being in the same area is fine. So they have all this time of making their own plans that just “happen” to interact as a measure of plausible deniability. They can’t break free of this, are too used to subtlety working with each other to be open. The whole communication thing is part of this too I think. Associating under active threat has taken its toll. They are great at subtle communication, but it feels like it’s been so long where they couldn’t be open with each other for their own safety that it doesn’t even occur to the two of them to be open. Honestly I think that they both would have been willing to risk their own safety- but not each others. Being open = the other being in danger. Crowley’s look after Nina’s “is he your bit on the side” personally strikes me as not “oh I love him” or “oh this is a relationship” but instead a “wait, everyone else can SEE IT”. Heaven and Hell aren’t very perceptive, but humans see straight through them. I think that’s why he looks so uneasy, almost scared. Then at the ball Crowley is actually trying to share the problem, but then he immediately regresses to just not listening and taking the humans out on his plan. Honestly I’m curious what everyone else reads into this interaction. He tries a couple times to work together with Az and then gives up. I feel like even trying to break out of their normal interaction was really hard for Crowley, so he immediately falls back to the usual. And this is also likely because of Crowley’s lack of communication- Aziraphale truly doesn’t know how dangerous the situation is, since Crowley tries to hide and shield him from everything, which also isn’t healthy. Just you can see how they got to this point but the miscommunication is still so frustrating. Oof sorry this comment got long apparently I have a lot of feelings. I’ve been loving the reactions to this series. I’m excited for the episode 6 reaction, but take your time!!! We’ll be happy whenever it arrives, we certainly don’t think you are being lazy you are putting in a ton of effort for this series and it’s amazing!

Miriam 090985

It could be both, happy for them and longing.... And Aziraphale can look much more longing than that scene!😋😉

Miriam 090985

You got a xxl tissuebox for tomorrow.....convenient....🤗😉

I love when you analyse, rant, gush, etc. for the show aha. Thanks for sharing this bonus reflection! Also, you take great notes and do a lot of rewatching effort - if you were willing, I'd love a season / series reflection from you, after you've seen episode 6

Carabas

I don't think that Crowley and Azi together have even one Lazuri. I think Jim subconciously put his finger on the scale there.

Phoenix Mackenzie

I'm pretty sure it was confirmed that Jim(or the circle, I've seen that theory before) had nothing to do with it, it was just az and Crowley

Morgan Terry

Depends on how much I'm able to process after I record episode 6. If its similar to The Ball episode and I'm out of it at the end I might need to record a separate video. I would definitely like to do a video diving into this show tho. Just might take a while with other things I have going on at the moment

Alyssa F

Yeah, no stress or rush! Definitely makes sense as a 'separate vid' type thing. But if you do have time at some point, would be great to hear your deep-diving thoughts across the show!

mari.healingbikes

About the miracle sound and Nina taking Maggie's hand.... I don't think it necessarily means he's doing a miracle in that moment. Otherwise we would have seen Az doing it, as other times. The sound is just remarking the "miraculous atmosphere" of the ball itself (people changing clothes when they come in etc.)... I hope this makes sense ^_^

mari.healingbikes

Also, I want that screensaver! I have never seen some of the arts, they're so beautiful!

Theo

Not to mention that, if I remember correctly, Crowley's status when he was an angel was archangel (the theory is that he was the archangel Raphael), so he would be as powerful as Gabriel.
