Comments

Crispin

Holy heck, wasn't expecting this. This will always be my number 1 infected flick.

Lana S

Ohhh I can’t wait to see your reaction to this classic!! The cast/acting, cinematography, score, and those zombies, man! I’m sure I’ll add to this post watch. Adore y’all and your reactions!

Laurie Lioux

Yay! So excited to watch this one with you guys! It’s a favorite of mine. If you guys haven’t already seen it, I highly recommend The Cell (2000); the visuals and imagery are stunning, Tarsem Singh does a great job!

Actually waking up early is what they did, to capture an empty London :)) On a Saturday or Sunday morning, there was barely anyone on the street, so they took portable cameras, and went on a "field trip".

Tatiana Ferreira

Yesss! Gonna get some snacks to watch this when I get home! 🤓🍿🧟

This movie is a prime example of how the best horror films are among the best films ever made, regardless of genre. People who condescend towards horror art and media annoy me so much.

I'll watch this later but 28 Days Later is an interesting flick in that it showed that a film can be successful while being filmed by consumer grade video cameras. You can tell by how the background is always in focus which is caused by the camera's depth of field. Today it's possible to blur the background digitally so it's probably no longer possible to tell the difference. Back then you could mimic a professional camera by hacking 35mm camera lenses. This era was my peak interest in film making so I can geek out about it at times...

Ah the movie i asked for <3 thanks you very much. Also i wish you all the best and a happy new year in advance.

Just wanted to say this is my favorite reaction channel. You guys are good people. And you have interesting insight.

Gail Seaton Humbert

Good timing in starting in these now that the new film will be coming out. It is a brilliant use of location shots just using the emptiness to create the tension. An antithesis to World War Z

Laurie Lioux

Idk if you guys noticed but the actress (Naomie Harris) that played Selena also played Tia Dalma in the Pirates Movies!

It's not my favorite, but 28 days later do a lot of cool and interesting things. Like you talked about, the lower budget makes limitations that they use extremely well in this movie. Some angles, effects and choices in cinematography are very clever. The gritty nature of the whole film gives it a different feel, but it works because they have leaned into it very smartly. More or less everything is practical and that also helps with the mockumentary style the whole film is shot in. The editing, as you point out, is very well done and you can tell there is purpose and thought behind it. The acting is quite good throughout the whole film, which it more or less requires. The characters has to carrie a movie like this or it would fall very flat, but the actors delivered well in that regard. I don't know if anyone really stand out, but most importantly no one is lacking, which is even more important. The script has some very clever things in it. Franks death, the unsettling feel (which turns out to be quite founded) of the soldiers and Jims walk through London are all smart moves to bring the plot forward. Yes, the infected are the enemy, but once again we learn that humans are horrible at handle those sort of situations. I would be amiss if I didn't mention the score as well. The use of the score is again smart, not only is the score good but more importantly it absolutely helps us hit the feeling of the scene or situation. Overall a very clever film, especially considering the budget. I'm glad you guys watched it and had a good time. Some other recommendations that this movie made me think of: Dog Soldiers (2002) Ginger Snaps (2000) Sphere (1998) El Laberinto Del Fauno (2006) Planet Terror (2007) The Faculty (1998) The New Mutants (2020)

Why R U Pretty Woman and Handsome Guy not reacting to any series?

Laurie

Awesome reaction as always, absolutely love you guys and my other half and I were happy to watch along with you! For the budget and what they had to work with, the team really made this movie unique as far as zombie films go. Have you guys ever considered reacting to Memoirs of a Geisha? Completely different genre, of course, but it's a visually stunning movie with an epic soundtrack and it's a personal favorite of mine so I'm biased! lol. Hope your holidays were enjoyable and Happy New Year to you both!

I haven’t watched my physical copy of this movie in over 10 years. I’m super excited to watch it with you guys right now!

A couple of touches with the camera work I really appreciate in this movie is that some of the panning shots aren't smooth, they pan a little, then stop, then pan a little more, repeat. A good example is the Manchester reveal. The other is that some of the shots that would normally be completely still shots with the camera, have a slight bit of jitter in them. Really helps add to that documentary/realism feel. Also, as an aside, if you guys want some more Danny Boyle directing goodness, you guys should check out Sunshine. Danny Boyle directed, Alex Garland writing, with an absolute all-star cast. Check this. Cillian Murphy Rose Byrne Chris Evans Cliff Curtis Michelle Yeoh Hiroyuki Sanada Benedict Wong Mark Strong

I saw this movie forever ago and therefore knew the "I promised them women" twist, but watching it again, I noticed a line that went by me in my first viewing: When the leader of the military guys stops them from harassing Hannah and Selena the first time -- when you're still meant to think, "Oh, well, at least the guy in charge is trying to be civil. Maybe he's okay" -- he says very quietly to one of the soldiers, "Slow down." So chilling (and gross) when you know where it's heading. Great movie though and, yeah, it really shows that budget doesn't have to hold you back from making something awesome. I remember this being a bit of a revelation as it was one of the first movies that brought the idea of running zombies into the mainstream ("Return of the Living Dead" had running ones too, but, being a comedy-horror at a time when that was still pretty niche, it didn't really ignite the idea in the zeitgeist like 28 Days Later did). That's so much freakier than shuffling corpses you can easily outrun. Anyway, I *think* I saw 28 Weeks Later in theaters but can't really remember it, so I'm looking forward to watching that along with you. And then I too will be ready for the new one next year. Great reaction as always, y'all!

Some great movies in the last few days guys! Hope you've had a Merry Xmas and that you are looking forward to 2025. :) One cool little fact about this movie; as a Romero fan I was impressed by how well they executed one of his discarded concepts. If you've ever seen Day of The Dead you'll know it all takes place in a missile launch facility; his initial idea was to have the action take place in a much larger military compound with sentries and "kill-zones" all around so they could deal with the zombies ... that's where 28 Days Later got the idea of their floodlit house with the large perimeter. It would have been great to see what Romero did with that, but Danny Boyle and his guys did just fine! The idea that it's the humans who are the real monsters is, of course, the staple of every good zombie movie and show; see The Walking Dead and pretty much everything Romero ever made for examples. The age-old debate about what we would do individually and collectively to survive a major catastrophe is haunting because we in the West have never had to face those sorts of choices ... hopefully we never do. The movie is excellent. It's not for nothing that it's regarded as a classic. The sequel, 28 Weeks Later, is also pretty good although it's more of an action film once it gets started. That's something Romero didn't really do; he knew the stories he wanted to tell and they are basically about us and how we destroy each other and ourselves. Danny Boyle and his writers understood that perfectly well, which is how they made a masterpiece.

Have you guys reacted to The Batman with Robert Pattinson? Really great movie! Thought you guys might enjoy that one since there's DC movie reactions on here. Hope y'all have a Happy New Year!

I don't understand. I can't find this movie ANYWHERE. Have you traveled through time?^^

After 6 months of being subscribed… this is the review that made me think. Hmmm. I should support these wonderful people for all of their hard work! So I am officially a new knight 🫶🏼

i didnt realize just how rare this movie is on blu ray and dvd. kinda nuts, i got my blu ray and dvd copies maybe a year or 2 ago for like nothing, maybe 5 or 6 dollars for both. weird to see them go for so much.

BigFresh918

The song that plays while they are in the grocery store is called 'A.M. 180' by the band GRANDADDY, who have been one of my favorite bands since i was about 12 years old. Jason Lytle (the singer) is a genius.

BigFresh918

When i first saw the movie as it came out, i flipped during that scene hearing such a underrated indie band used in a film.

Why is the movie blurred and extremely small?

Robert Durant

Because they can't show the whole movie on the screen or they will get hit with copyright violations. This is why it's called a "watch along"; you have to have your own copy to watch at home and be ready to sync up when they tell you to press play. The blurred screen and timestamp counter help to get your copy back on track just in case you fall out of sync.
